Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
The best stocks are simmered slowly over steady, low heat. Calphalon's 12-qt. Stock Pot is crafted of heavy-gauge aluminum to cook ingredients evenly, at just the right temperature. Stick-resistant surface won't react with most foods. Includes flat, anodized lid.

Amazon.com Review
Calphalon Commercial hard-anodized pans are made for the more serious cook who is looking for kitchenware built to last a lifetime. This large-size, 12-quart stockpot is good for soup, stews, and pasta, and its heavy-gauge aluminum construction also stands up to deep frying. The looped handles are easy to grip and stay cooler than you might expect, thanks to V-shaped splits where they meet the pan, but it's still a good idea to keep hot pads nearby. The nonporous and nonreactive hard-anodized surface resists sticking and doesn't affect the flavor or color of food. It's also tough enough to handle stainless-steel utensils and vigorous whisking. Unlike pans with plastic or wood handles, the extremely sturdy all-metal construction provides you the flexibility to take the pan to the oven or broiler. But do remember to hand wash your Calphalon pans--dishwasher detergents are bad for the finish and their use voids the lifetime warranty. --Dale Steinke

5 out of 5 stars Must have for all cooks   January 6, 2009

Good pots are an investment for serious cooks.
This pot distributes the heat evenly over the bottom of the pot, so there are no hot spots. Easy to clean and porfessional looking.

This is a very thin pot not what I thought. The lid does not fit properly.

4 out of 5 stars very good stockpot   December 16, 2008

I read a lot of reviews before I finally purchased this product. I didn't have anything bigger than a 6-qt pot so I had to borrow a friend's Calphalon hard anodized stockpot to cook for a party. I was extremely satisfied with it so I decided to get one for myself. I got it during the kitchen sale and it was promptly delivered.

It is a very good stockpot. The handles are wide, positioned well, and don't get too hot. It is easy to hand wash except that if you have a shallow kitchen sink it might be too hard to move around. Wash it in the utility sink instead.

I gave it 4 stars because I have a problem with the flat lid. Whenever I lift the lid the condensation on the underside of the lid runs off in all directions. I don't get this problem with domed lids. With domed lids, the condensation runs down the middle when you tilt the lid open. No spills, so steam burns. I will probably use a different lid for this pot.

I've never had a better stock pot and doubt this one will spring a leak like my last! Easy to clean and durable. No home should be without one.

3 out of 5 stars Noisy Pot   December 8, 2008

I used this for the first time the other night to boil some pasta. The pot did a nice job but it's noisy when the liquid is at a rolling boil. Also, pay attention to the height. if you don't have an extra deep sink or an adjustable faucet, you may find it a little difficult to wash.
