Amazon.com Review
Built with edge-grain construction, this durable wooden cutting board from Wüsthof is a solid staple for the kitchen. The board is reversible for years of use and crafted from maple hardwoods for durability and good looks. The rounded edges make it easy to grab off a kitchen cart, while the flat surface is ideal for breads, vegetables, fruit, sandwiches, and cheeses. Both sides of the board are identical, except for the company's signature trident stamp on one side. It measures a comfortable 10 by 5/8 by 14 inches. --Emily Bedard

3 out of 5 stars Care for it...   July 9, 2004

And it will not warp, as another reviewer mentioned. There ARE instructions, they are on the little label sticker, though I can understand how they could be missed. I haven't even oiled mine, and it isn't warped or cracked. You can't dishwash it or soak it (also mentioned on the label) so that may be the cause of some people's cracking. I air dry it, lying it face down against any minor warping and this helps as well.

That said, it is too much work, and I would be skeptical of using it on meat due to not being able to as thoroughly wash it and to the cracks/seams. Glad it was free.

1 out of 5 stars Useless - unworthy of the Wusthof name   April 11, 2004

I purchased this board with a set of Wüsthof knives. The knives were excellent - I have since purchased more - but the board was a disaster. It warped almost immediately - hardly surprising perhaps as it is thin. Quite possibly I did not care for it properly, for example by oiling it or whatever, but then again there were no instructions included relating to any necessity for that sort of treatment.

I would by a butcher's block in future, rather than one of these things. As a general chopping platform I would suggest going for a good quality plastic board, as it will not dull your knives nor be a pain to look after.

4 out of 5 stars Cutting board OK by me   February 24, 2004

Hello there,
I bought this board for $10 from Broadway Panhandler, and it's working out great. I wonder if the other reviewers have properly cared for their board--I oiled it with mineral oil every day for one week before using it, and then once a week for a month. For maintenance after that, you should oil your board once a month. Any wood board will crack if not properly oiled, so maybe that's the problem...? I like the board because I have a very small kitchen with little space, and it's small enough and thin enough to fit just about anywhere.
