Sturdy and classic-looking, the Hamilton Beach commercial drink mixer is a milkshake powerhouse. It is also handy for smoothies, malts, egg creams, batter, and cocktails. Equipped with a heavy-duty 1/6-horsepower motor, the machine has permanently lubricated ball bearings for smooth, vibration-free operation. Its three speeds--10,000 and 14,000 and 17,000 rpm--are controlled with a conveniently placed rocker switch. Once the setting is chosen, simply place the container in position to trigger the machine; when the cup is removed, the motor shuts off. This helps avoid awkward juggling, makes results consistent, and prevents messy splashes. The mixer's acid-resistant enamel finish wipes down easily, and the helpful cup guide--attached with a thumbscrew--unfastens for cleanup. The drink mixer includes two durable stainless-steel agitators--the spinning piece on the end of the spindle--for use with hard or soft-serve ice cream. Changing agitators is straightforward and quick, and non-skid feet and a detachable rear stabilizer arm add stability to the machine. The mixer should only be used with a metal container, and the Hamilton Beach Universal Container #110E is recommended. I found out today that I broke into the ranks of Amazon's Top 1000 Reviewers, jumping from 1,001st place to 936th!
To celebrate this momentous occasion, I am reviewing every "936" item I can find that I also happen coincidentally to own.
The Hamilton Beach Commercial 936 Drink Mixer, Black, (HBC936) represents the ultimate in drink-mixing technology, at least until science brings us the superconducting Higgs field molecular agitator in a convenient, kitchen-appliance sized package. I hear they are working on it, but I wouldn't hold your breath, unless, of course, you are underwater. And don't have gills, obviously.
I used to mix my drinks in a classic Waring blender, but the cleanup afterwards was a chore. The HBC936 cleans up quickly and conveniently: the sturdy metal container removes easily, and the stainless steel spindle and agitator rinse quickly in a container full of water. As I like to make liver and pancreas shakes, I usually detach the spindle and agitator for a more thorough cleaning. My kids hate it when chunks of liver or pancreas end up in their milkshakes.
The HBC936 is a solid machine with a sturdy base, important for when one is crushing ice in a cool, smooth liver and pancreas shake. Sure, it's pricey, but that price is reflected in the quality, durability and sturdiness of the unit, as well as in the power of the motor. Because of the HBC936's ease of use, I can enjoy my liver and pancreas shakes every day, and sometimes several times a day. I highly recommend the HBC936 for everyone who enjoys healthful smoothies and shakes, whether made from fruit, ice cream, or animal organs. But especially animal organs.
