Product Description The Professional 600 Series is KitchenAid's most powerful Stand Mixer. Redesigned for the serious home baker, this powerful Stand Mixer features a 575-watt motor with heavy-duty transmission and a 6 quart bowl combined to give you the power and capacity to mix 13 dozen cookies, 8 pounds of mashed potatoes, or over 8 loaves of bread. KitchenAid's unique planetary mixing action provides faster, more thorough blending of ingredients all the way to the edge of the bowl, without ever rotating it. The rugged, all-metal quality construction and Commercial-style motor protection assure a long life of trouble-free, dependable and quiet operation. Other features include a professional style bowl-lift that makes it easy to lift the bowl into the mixing position, 10-speed slide control ranges from a very fast whip to a very slow stir and a power hub for optional attachments. Included with the Stand Mixer, a burnished aluminum flat beater, PowerKnead spiral dough hook (designed to replicate hand-kneading to handle 20% more dough than previous models), a professional wire whip and pouring shield.

NOT for Professional or Everyday Use. July 3, 2008 E. Nadal My dad has been using the Kitchen Aid Mixers way before they became popular (When they were Hobarts). He buys them because he needs the 5qt+ capacity - no more no less. He uses them almost daily and has gone through several after it switched from Hobart to Kitchen Aid. Kitchen Aid customer service is excellent and they've replaced a few of them. If you are looking for a mixer you can abuse and use professionally, get a more expensive machine if you can. These are built for the occassional home kitchen use and for years now have not been built to last. If that's their track record I doubt they'll go "back in quality", but just keep getting cheaper. I recently ordered a Electrolux DLX2000 for him based on their solid reviews, but would always have liked a $1500-1800 Hobart N50, but could never justify the $$$, since to him that equals 5 or 6 Kitchen Aid 600s every 2-3 years each!
gearbox is poorly made June 24, 2008 G. Maxwell mixer worked great for several years, then someone put bread dough in it. now the gearbox is completely shot: the plastic casing cracked, allowing the gears to misalign, ripping some of the teeth off of one of the gears and cracking one of the bushings. great mixer, just not for anything thicker than cookie dough.
Kitchenaid June 24, 2008 Sallie I love my mixer. It is a little loud but not enough to complain about. I have a 4.5 quart and love it but the professional one I have now is awsome.
FABULOUS Mixer! June 23, 2008 Kim Boyko Wow...my husband got me this for my birthday and I am just floored. The quality is outstanding and it will literally last a lifetime. I don't think there isn't anything this mixer can't do. Highly recommend it for anyone who does a lot of cooking/baking.
Great for Making Bread June 19, 2008 Mary Mixer (San Diego, Ca USA) I was worried because some reviews talked of a part breaking when mixing bread, but further research showed that KitchenAid had fixed that problem. I have owned my KitchenAid for 8 months, made countless whole grain breads and I love it! Had a problem with the dough hook releasing, but called KA and they had me fix it with a drop of oil-and they were so nice. What a great company!
