Amazon.com Review Two powerful kitchen appliances have been brought together in this blender/food processor by Cuisinart. The heavy-duty motor base is up to both blending and processing tasks, and won't "walk" on the counter, even when it's crushing ice. Use the blender with its dripless pour spout to make and serve 40 ounces of frozen drinks or to purée baby foods or soups; use the processor to prep up to 3 cups of vegetables, cheeses, nuts, and meats. With one motor base, it's simple to keep the blender out on the counter and then bring out the processor attachment for special tasks. This is an amazingly sturdy product, with tight fitting lids, a heavy glass blender jar, and a motor that chops meats or ice with equal aplomb. Most attachments go in the dishwasher, and the flat touch pad, which has seven settings, including "ice crush" and "pulse," is easily wiped down with a sponge. This dual appliance comes with a booklet detailing how to use all the features, and 48 recipes, from cranberry-orange mimosas to classic mayonnaise. --Maria Dolan Editor's Choice: Cuisinart's SmartPower food processor is our choice for the best food processor under $100. This blender/food processor combines two kitchen appliances into one useful package. It is heavy-duty, can both blend and process most things, and sits on the counter without shaking around. The processor has 350 watts of power and seven speeds, and the plastic bowl size is 3 cups--it also has a 40-ounce glass blender jar. It comes with one standard blade and one slicing/shredding disc. Most attachments go in the dishwasher, and the flat touchpad wipes down with a sponge.

Don't ever buy reconditioned items from this company September 11, 2008 I bought a reconditioned version of this blender from another online site. It turned out I didn't need to use the blender for most of the summer and the warranty period expired on the reconditioned product. Of course right after that, I had to use the blender. It worked ok for a bit but soon pretty much became worthless. When it did work, it did a poor job of mixing the stuff I put into the blender and the food processor wasn't all that great either. Avoid Cuisinart.
Flying machine and melting plastic August 30, 2008 zane addison (Miami, Florida) I have used many food processors before, I do not use them harshly, I was even able to use my very cheap first mini processor for 3 years. Yet, this is by far the worst I had. Pros: 1.Very powerful machine that this strength cause trouble for you. 2. Being able to use a 2-in-1 machine 3. Several buttons for different tasks Cons: 1. The machine parts, although supposedly strong and appropriate for dishwasher, is not safe to put in at all. The food processor's clear plastic bowl melted in the first wash and have taken an oval shape in the dishwasher, and I do not even use heated dry. I had to squeeze it to fit the lid on it for each time I use it. 2. Extremely loud. My son can never stay asleep upstairs once I start it, pretty similar to a strong vacuum cleaner in noise level. 3. Machine is so powerful, so when you actually process food, which it is supposed to do well, you have to hold on the machine very tight with both hands, otherwise, the machine can fly (I mean literally) especially if you are processing hard food such as dry bread, onions, or nuts, or trying to make dips. 4. That typical burning smell that all cuisinart processors that I used have. It begins after 5-6 seconds you start. Just beware and if possible, choose another one.
BEWARE!beware!BEWARE! August 7, 2008 Sarah M. Robinson (Philadelphia, PA, USA) Cuisinart BFP-703 SmartPower Duet Blender/Food Processor, White A fine idea, Poor execution! Mine lasted three months. It failed while under warranty. I called Cuisinart, there solution? I should pack it, pay to ship it, and include $10.00 for them to mail it back, after they fixed it. And they offered no warrenty about the repair. No "we are sorry that our $80.00 item is in fact an expensive paper weight designed to break." Instead, they feel that I should pay more than 20% of the original cost to get them to maybe fix it right. Stay away from this product and this company.
We like it so far! June 18, 2008 K. Gollaher (Silicon Valley, CA) We've had it for a little while now. We've made smoothies and used the cuisinart blades to chop veggies. The blades are super sharp so be careful! The time savings by using this unit versus chopping by hand can be somewhat diminished because you then have to spend time cleaning the unit. However, when doing large quantities of chopping, it's very useful. When using the product as a blender, it seems to perform just as well as any other blender we've owned. We still experienced the smell of the motor as we were trying to get all those chunks of frozen fruit blended. It's definitely not a powerhouse such as the type they have a Jamba Juice but it will work fine for our occasional smoothie making times. All in all, it's a decent product for the price paid.
Cuisinart Red Blend/Mixer April 8, 2008 Jo Phelan (Oregon) Again RED to match my decor, perfect. But the functions of this blender/processor are unlimited. I love it.
