Product Description What makes this semi-automatic espresso machine different? Unlike many other machines this one pre-infuses the coffee grounds for 2 seconds with a small amount of hot water, prior to the full extraction, resulting in maximum flavor extraction. It has programmable brewing functions, a water filtration system and you can use either preground beans or pods. It offers a consistent and precise water volume control. The adjustable portafilter allows you to switch from pods to ground and from single to double shots and back again with just a dial - no special adaptors required. The memory function means you can set your preferences for brewing. As with other semi-automatic espresso machines the boiler has a heating system designed not to overheat and operation of this machine is quite easy.
Amazon.com Review Espresso makers can be tricky but the Artese is designed to be less intimidating than most and, in addition to being easy to use, it brews excellent espresso. This pump espresso machine has an advanced Thermobloc system with 15 bars of pressure to consistently deliver delicious espresso, cappuccino, or latté drinks. Advanced electronic controls let you tailor the coffee to your taste. You may alter the water flow for each cycle so that the precise amount of espresso is brewed at the desired strength. A memo button sets your preferences so you can have your coffee just as you like it every day. The Artese is also one of the only pump machines with an adjustable portafilter, allowing you to accommodate varying amounts of espresso--a single versus a double shot--by simply turning a dial rather than having to change the filter as is required on most other machines. Additionally, the CLARIS water filtration system improves your coffee's taste by filtering out 85 percent of the chlorine taste and other harmful minerals found in tap water. For latté and cappuccino drinkers, the automatic frothing system is topnotch. Rather than frothing milk in a separate pitcher, the Artese holds up to 32 ounces (enough for eight cappuccinos) of milk in its own canister and dispenses foamed milk directly into your cup. You can also adjust the thickness of the froth to heavy for cappuccino and light for lattés. For safety, this espresso maker has an automatic shutoff feature that kicks in after the machine has been on for two hours. The Artese accepts ground coffee or ESE pods and is covered by a one-year warranty on parts and labor. --Cristina Vaamonde

Great!!.....but not. December 11, 2005 S. Slaith (West Bloomfield, MI United States) 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
I've had this machine for 2 years which is why I gave it 2 stars. At first I was impressed, but as I got better at being a barister I found the milk didn't get as hot as I would like. I got great foam, just not enough heat. The clean up for the steamer got to be a drag. But this didn't make me dislike the machine. It was when the electrical went haywire that I began to dislike this machine. The machine turns on but when you push the button for 1 or 2 cups of espresso, the machine immediately turns off. I turn it back on, wait and the game begins, will it or won't it give me an espresso. Some days I win the game after a couple of hours and some days the machine wins and I'm off to Starbucks for a fix. My next machine will be a simple one.
wonderful machine June 23, 2004 A. Sweiti (COCONUT CREEK, FL United States) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I bought this machine 8 months ago. It makes the best espresso, latte and cappuccino. It is so easy to use and clean. It make a nice foam even if I can froth half and half but in this case you have to raise the milk container about 3 inches higher (because the liquid is denser). I paid for this machine $229. Also I bought another one to use it in my office lately.
Nice but no foam December 30, 2003 DJK (Double Oak, TX United States) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
I just got mine and still learning how to use it. The espresso is great, however I am a Latte drinker and I can not get the foamer to create foamed milk. In fact the milk is not very hot that comes out of the tap. Turning the tap all the way to the bottom produces steam, however it does no seem in infuse it into the milk.
Buy this machine! April 17, 2003 Secularman (Massachusetts USA) 19 out of 19 found this review helpful
This machine makes great cappuccino/espresso. It is easy to use and clean. If this is in your price range it is a good buy. It is much better than the machines that are slightly cheaper, but probably at least as good as the ones that cost alot more. If the pre-set volumes of water used for 1 and 2 cups are not to your liking you can program the amount of water you want, otherwise the programming function doesn't add any value. Overall I am very happy.
Expresso machine April 6, 2003 Brian Davis (Las Vegas, NV USA) 7 out of 11 found this review helpful
I am very impressed with the machine and the features that come with the machine. I have used it several times since I got the machine. The machine is somewhat complicated if you don't read the instructions, but I was able to figure it out.
