Stay away from the Oster hand blender May 28, 2008 P. Cannon (Big Pine Key, Florida United States) Nice that this mixer comes with it's own mixing cup, very handy but the blender is simply JUNK. It worked exactly five times on protein powder and soy milk nothing course and it failed. It didn't just stop working either, it started shooting pieces of itself across the kitchen and smoke poured out! Don't consider this one, look on. Not sure which one I'll try next.
Piece of junk!! Broke Twice! April 17, 2008 A. Koch (Lincoln, NE USA) I purchased this blender, used it once, and it broke around the housing that holds the metal rod. I returned it, thinking it was a fluke, and the second one did the same thing after the 2nd use! It's not like I was mixing concrete, I was just mixing a cream soup. Do not buy this machine. I have contacted Oster and demanded that they send me a new one, because I'm not driving all over town to replace this every single month. I am very disappointed. I will not buy another Oster. I would give it negative stars if I could.
Loud messy and cheap March 28, 2008 PSaint (Indiana) Guess the old saying you get what you pay for applies here. I purchased this for under 15.00- The hand unit worked well with smoothies though the liquid always SPLASHED up and out of the beaker making a mess. After the first week the blender began to shake and make such loud noises that it cracked the plastic beaker! Now it sounds like it is grinding bolts. Will not purchase this brand again.
Do Not Buy!! March 25, 2008 HJW I bought this blender because the only other option was the KitchenAid immersion blender that cost $49. To me, that seemed like a lot to pay for such a small piece of equipment. I didn't even pay that much for my hand mixer. However, I quickly learned that in the world of immersion blenders, you get what you pay for. This Oster blender was used maybe 8 times. It didn't work well out of the box, but after only 8 times using it it no longer worked at all. I just went out and spent the $49 to buy the KitchenAid immersion blender, after having wasted $20 on the Oster blender. Don't make the same mistake I did. I've now spent a total of $69 on immersion blenders when I could have only spent $49 to begin with.
Wish I had read these reviews first... January 7, 2008 streamlover (CA, USA) I'm usually pretty good about researching first but I was already at Target, I needed a blender and there was this for $20 and the KitchenAid for $50. Being Mr. Cheap, I of course bought this one and...well, it lasted 2 weeks before the plastic housing broke and it won't hold the blade any more. Of course I pitched the box and receipt so I'm out $20...but smarter!
