Do you need another "blender?" April 21, 2008 E. Wisniewski (Franklin, TN) I certainly didn't...but OH NO...a "blender" this is certainly NOT!! It's beautiful outside and we all need a fabulous frozen DRINK! You know the kind like you get `somewhere else' that you can't seem to replicate at home! Not anymore... I just got the Margaritaville Frozen concoction maker and LOVE it! I realized as I enjoyed the first sip of my blueberry-lime cocktail, I had to make sure everyone I know gets one of these makers for themselves. No household should be without a device that will create such awesome treats! You deserve it. It's super easy to use (I admit, I didn't even read the instructions)...just fill it with ice up top and add in fruit and whatever your drink of choice is in the blender part and away you go. Instant gratification! The machine comes with a Margaritville shot glass, a tin for salt to rim your glass, and coasters - who could ask for anything more? (Except maybe a bottle of tequila). It's light-weight enough to move around so we just took it outside and shave/blended up summer drinks for the neighbors. I could go on and on about the fabulous-ness that is my new Concoction Maker but you really should find out for yourself - don't let this summer pass you buy - get one!
Way Cool ! April 16, 2008 Patrick T. Whiting (Milwaukee, Wisconsin) 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
This machine is too cool. All I can say is that this is gonna be a great summer. The drinks are very easy to make, and they go down even easier :)
Great Machine/replacement parts too expensive! March 6, 2008 Paul F. Vantuyle (Knoxville, TN) 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
This is a really great machine! Makes prefect frozen drinks and smoothies. The "really" bad part is that the "ice shaving" blade dulls very fast, we could tell the difference after "three" uses!! We thought, no problem, we will just send for several of the $5.00 replacement blades!! Boy, were we wrong! This model machine doesn't use the reasonably priced $5.00 replacement blades, it uses an "Ice Shaving Blade with Deflector" which costs $35.00 plus tax and shipping, so to replace this blade costs over $45.00!! That is way too much money to spend on something that is going to have to be replaced every other month, if you use the machine a lot. Otherwise, just take it out once or twice a year for company or special occassions and you may only need one or two replacement blades. They "don't" tell you this in the ad, it's not on or in the box what kind of blade replacement you will need either. If we had known the replacement Ice Shaving Blade was going to cost us $35.00 + each time it needed to be replaced, we would not have purchased this machine...with the way we wanted to use it, we could have been replacing the blade every month and with that kind of money we could of bought another machine! So, we wrote a letter to the company Sunbeam/Jarden, and complained...so far no answer and we are not holding our breath on getting one either! All in all, the machine makes great drinks and we love it, but when it comes time to replace the "ice shaving blade unit", it's going to have to wait until we can afford it. We had no idea it would dull so fast and be so expensive to replace. It would have been nice to have been warned, but then they may not be able to sell any of these machines!! That was the only disappointment, but it was enough to ruin the fun in using it more than once in a while!!
Super Slushies! February 15, 2008 Mrs. J. Shaw (Hatfield, Massachusetts United States) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
My husband is a big slushie fan so for Valentines Day this year I was on the lookout for a slushie machine. Having searched the net I was amazed at the prices of the usual slushie machines - over $1000 was a little excessive! It was then that I came across this little gem. I was a little sceptical at first since so many other machines like it had received none too sparkling reviews but those given for this machine seemed much more positive so I placed the order. I am so glad I did! The machine shaves the ice perfectly and with a little syrup mix makes super slushies! It also works wonderfully on milkshakes. Clean up is very easy, its not too loud and it looks pretty cool too. Hubbie is thrilled to bits and so am I.
Great At Shaved Ice; Recipe Suggestion Below January 26, 2008 J. Weber 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
PROS: 1) Succeeds fabuolously at its primary mission: making the perfect shaved ice margarita, frozen daiquiri, or smoothie. Many drinks taste so much better as a "smoothie". It's interesting how even regular juice tastes so much better and more refreshing as a shaved ice drink. 2) Upscale design: Looks very professional and cool for a party. Seems to be a heavy duty design that would last a long time. 3) Easy clean up. Though I avoid the dishwasher based on other's recommendations, it's still easy to clean up. CONS: 1) Expensive, though this is a personal choice. 2) Big and heavy makes it not a simple kitchentop blender. 3) Each batch makes 32 oz. This is enough for most parties, but if you're trying to serve to 50+ people, this probably won't be able to make them fast enough. 4) Drinks can taste diluted if you take a standard recipe and add shaved ice. This is not a fault of the unit, of course. After experimenting a lot, I've found this party recipe to work well: 6 oz. Malibu Coconut rum + 4 oz. Pineapple Juice CONCENTRATE (the round cans in the frozen juice section of the grocery store). This is a bit concentrated by itself, but when shaved ice is added, it makes for a perfect blend without being too diluted or too strong. Overall, though I hesitated at the price, this unit is fun for all ages, and turns any cold drink into a refreshing event. I'm very glad I bought it.
