Possibly the worst hand blender on the market June 7, 2007

I'm definitely in the market for a new hand blender. I've used two, count them--two, of these....one I bought for myself and the other my husband bought as a replacement, not knowing that Oster was what I was replacing. Both were absolutely horrible. I'd rate it less than a zero, but amazon doesn't have options for that in the rating system.
The removeable shaft is mated into plastic gears within the motor. These strip out very easily if the blender blades meet with anything more resistent than liquid. That was the fate of the first blender. The second blender was even worse, because I only used it with liquid. The housing on the external unit cracked, allowing the shaft to slip out. It is now only useable if I hold the shaft in place with my free hand. This after only two weeks of daily use.
It's a usuriously overpriced product and I'm definitely looking to buy up from here, because this product is the bottom of the barrel.
