Loved it until the motor gave up June 28, 2008 Zwillingsmama (redwood city, ca United States) I owned this little blender for 8 months and LOVED it, until I mashed cooked potatoes today and the motor blew out of the blue. There was no warning of overheating, straining on the motor etc. just a plop sound and the thing is broken. After having it loved for 8 months I am hugely disappointed and would not buy it again
Fantastic and Durable May 1, 2008 D. Szeto (New York, NY) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
This stick blender is fantastic. This is my 3rd stick blender. The first three did fine, but since the shaft was made of plastic, tomato sauces and other cooking liquids started to stain the plastic a little and tougher items started to nick the plastic...giving the blenders a "seen its best days" look. I got this one for the durability of the metal shaft, which is easy to clean and well functionning. I love the turbo function which "kicks it up a notch" instantly. Fun, convenient, durable. Can't go wrong with a stick blender and esp. this one.
I got the bad egg April 3, 2008 D. E. Hardy (Denver, CO) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
My boss had one of these that he let me borrow for a culinary competition. I have used many hand held blenders to include the cuisinart and kitchenaid versions which I own, but this blows them away. It is the only mini blender that I've seen that will actually fully puree carrots into a nice cohesive sauce (with the food processor attachment. The other brands left tiny granular chunks in it. I was actually quite impressed with the set and looking to buy one for myself until about the fourth time using it when the plastic above the blade attachment melted to the shaft of the food processor unit, transforming it into a piece of useless junk. He hadn't used it more than a dozen times, so wear and tear should not have been an issue. Regardless, I had to buy him a new one, and I therefore will never trust anything from Braun again despite the fact that this was clearly a fluke. I don't know if this has happened to anyone else with this product, but I'm not willing to take my chances.
Braun Immersion "blender" February 10, 2008 dosakitas (Tucson Arizona) This is much more of a food processor than a blender. The processing for pesto and soups takes a fraction of the time used by my old food processor, and it's much easier to clean. But I still haven't figured out how not to make a mess when using the whisk on liquids! It's a mighty powerful unit.
You can't have it, it's mine January 19, 2008 J. Horton (Colorado Springs,CO) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
So now that I've had it long enough to want to buy one for every member of my family, I can't even find 'em on sale. I bought a food processor that i returned (although capacity-wise much bigger) was no comparison to the speed, ease, and EASY CLEAN UP of this thing. The only 'negative???' is the adjustible speed setting, though it works, really doesn't seem to add much of a varient of speed to warrant it, device-wise, and maybe that's why they dropped the model (if that's why they are so rare) Wish I'd have had this long ago for marg's, shakes, ESP. protein shakes (can actually move it around to vacuum in the granules to dissolve). Oh, not kidding about the vacuum. You can practically lift the measuring glass (plastic) they give you when the thing is in turbo mode...and the non-splash is no lie either (I pulled it all the way to the top from bottom and held it there with 0 splashback--(don't recommend starting it first before inserting it, but if you do, please 'you-tube' it) Clean-up couldn't be easier unless it attached to your faucet head, and given that it actually disconnects from the motor main housing, it's really probably easier. Bottom-line, if you hate blenders that won't crush ice evenly, get food/powders all stuck on the sides, need to physically shake just to get gravity to help, and want the easiest mini-food processor for veggies, cheeze, meats, whatever, then this is for you. i haven't done it yet, but I can sure see the convenience of being able to blend a hot mixture as well--no cover to blow-back on you from the heat-rise of the mixture in a conventional blender, once you get used to the fact that this unit DOESN'T splash! And again....no you can't have it, but I hope for your sake they still are selling it.
