Waring is not what it used to be, horrible customer service, avoid June 25, 2008 Y. Tsai (NY) I don't typically write product reviews, but my horrible experience obliged me to write this one. I purchased this blender from Starbucks about 6 months ago. It worked great until about a week ago when the blender started to have trouble spinning to speed. A few days ago, the blender started to give off a strong electrical/burning smell so I immediately stopped using the blender and called customer service. As some of the other reviews mentioned, Waring customer service and their warranty are horrible! Definitely not what someone would expect from a company with such high reputation or a high priced product. Even though my blender was clearly under warranty, they required me to send it in at my own cost. Once they receive it, "they will determine whether it will be repaired under warranty or if there will be charges". They would not even give an estimate for the turnaround. So basically, you'd have to send it in at your own cost, then wait for them to look at it and possibly have to pay extra money, and get a repaired/previously defective product back. This, of course, could mean at least a few weeks without a blender to use. My previous blender was a cheap Black & Decker model. It crapped out after about 9 months of use (still 50% longer than the Waring costing about 5x the price). When it crapped out, Black & Decker simply shipped me a brand new replacement and asked me to mail them the power cord cut from the blender. So, be warned. Waring is still charging for its previous reputation, but that reputation will probably not last much longer as the new ownership is apparently tarnishing the brand and destroying its value. The quality of their product is clearly not what it used to be, and the customer service is outrageously bad. I would definitely not buy another Waring product again.
Loves the Pina Colada June 3, 2008 Glenn A. Fitzgerald (Buffalo) Chops ice smoothly into my perfect umbrella drinks. Simple and reliable. I did a ton of research into this product and I am very happy with the performance. Commercial quality all the way.
Best blender we've had! May 26, 2008 Kara D. Lane (Carmel, IN USA) I really like this blender! We've had blenders in the past that worked fine for most things, especially smoothies, but they weren't able to pass our key test, mudslides. On our honeymoon, my husband and I went to a Sandals resort that made the most awesome mudslides, and that became our signature drink there, but we were never able to replicate the drink at home, despite having gotten the recipe from the bartender. The drinks were just never smoothe enough when we made them with our blender. Then we bought this one, and it makes great mudslides...almost as good as the ones on our honeymoon!
best blender for sure May 16, 2008 Maureen I have had several blenders over the years - sunbeam, kitchenaid, hamilton and nothing compares to this. The unique shape of the blades, the super powerful motor and the heavy duty carafe combined give you an excellent result. It is exceptional for frozen drinks. It is a bit loud but most blenders are. Oh I almost forgot to mention the suction cup feet, so it doesn't bounce around. Highly recommend it.
Horrible for smoothies April 12, 2008 V. Janssen (Annapolis, MD) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I'm on my third blender (store of purchase replaces it) and the latest one AGAIN smells and seems to be working at less than full capacity. I make smoothies - for me and my kids everyday. I've gotten so I throw in fresh fruit & veggies first, then frozen fruit and then ice and other ingredients (dry milk, etc...). And once again I'm having problems with the Waring blender. It's supposed to be such a great blender - and I have the anniversary edition - but it does not work well at all. I'm switching to a KitchenAid!
