    Amazon.com Review
All kitchen and sporting knives, whether professional quality or inexpensive, need a blade tune-up now and then. This electric sharpener produces razor-sharp edges using the same rapidly rotating Sapphirite grinding wheels used by professional shops. A two-stage system allows knives to be ground and sharpened on the Stage 1 half of the machine, and then honed on the Stage 2 half. Blade guides hold the knife at the ideal sharpening angle for each side of the blade, as it is drawn slowly towards the user and kept parallel to the countertop. The sharpener is suitable for knives made of alloy, carbon, or stainless steel; it is perfectly normal for sparks to fly when knives of high carbon steel come in contact with the Sapphirite wheels. Non-electric serrated knives that are only serrated on one side can also be sharpened with this machine. Three suction cups on the bottom hold the sharpener securely on a table or countertop, and two receptacles underneath catch metal filings for disposal. The sharpener measures 8-1/4 by 5-3/4 by 4 inches, and is covered by a two-year warranty against defects. --Ann Bieri

5 out of 5 stars This rocks - especially for the price (i'd pay double)   September 7, 2008

I highly recommend this sharpener! I checked around (a lot) and after reading many reviews I gave it a try. Wow! Super easy, fast and really sharp knives!! Honestly, I can't believe it is so affordable and does this good of a job. This thing goes to town grinding so I don't think I'd want to do it all the time. I have expensive J.A. Henckels knives and they are like new again! Follow the directions exactly because it doesn't take much to really grind these things. I did manage to take out a bit of the beginning of my blade (closest to handle) on one of my knives but this was user error. Just do what the instructions say and you'll be fine. If you have a few older knives that you don't care about as much, I would practice on them first.
I will never have dull knives again and slicing tomatoes is a whole new experience - amazing!
I am really picky and research everything before buying so if I'm pleased you can feel confident in ordering this.

4 out of 5 stars wish I bought this earlier   September 4, 2008

This knife sharpener works really good, especially for the money. I've bought a hand held knife sharpener from Chefmate a number of years ago -- worthless. I also tried buying a sharpening stone, couldn't get a good edge on any of my knives that way. I've also tried a two stage manual knife sharpener used with filet knives, with sharpening rods, not very good for my kitchen knives.

Nothing has worked for me, except for this Presto. It's easy to use. The only downside is that the stones rotate in one direction. When the sharpener faces you as I draw the knife through the left slots of each of the two stages, it catches a little, even with light pressure. That's why its not a five star from me. On the right slots of each of the two stages, I haven't noticed it catching. After sharpening, if I look closely, it looks like micro serrations.

I got exactly what I was expecting. It does a great job and I couldn't be happier.

4 out of 5 stars Good Product, But Be Careful   September 3, 2008

I've used the Presto about 3 times. Very good product. I don't understand those who say the motor is under-powered. If anything, you need to be careful, as others have noted, about not over-sharpening, and thereby taking off too much. Since the wheels are recessed, you can't see the blade as you draw it across. Follow the instructions and don't sharpen too often and your knives should be fine. It's important to hone knives on a sharpening steel in between electric sharpening.

3 out of 5 stars Gets them sharp, but too agressive.   August 31, 2008

The Presto Pro EverSharp has never failed to get any of my knives sharp but it takes a lot of metal off your knife to get there. Motor gets rather hot after you use it for a few minutes so sharpening every knive in your drawer all at once isn't probably the best idea. The number 2 wheel on mine had a definate wobble to it, but it hasn't seemed to have affected performance much.
