Cook for the Cure…Think Pink
October 11, 2007
Cook for the Cure is a program where kitchenAid will donate up to $50 to the Susan G Komen breast cancer foundation for every pink kitchenAid appliance purchased.
The color pink represents the pink ribbon that serves as a symbol of the fight against breast cancer.
The foundation is named for Susan Komen who died of breast cancer at the young age of 36 years old. Before she past away, she asked her sister, Nancy, to do everything she could to bring an end to this terrible disease.
In 1982 Nancy kept her promise and started the Susan G Komen Cancer foundation in Suzy’s memory.
To date, the cook for the cure program has raised more than $5 million through donation-with-purchase programs, fundraising events, auctions and grassroots initiatives.
It’s a great way for anyone in the market for new appliances to contribute to a very worthwhile cause.
If you would like to make a direct donation, or for more information on breast cancer, please visit the Susan G Komen website.
