Product Description
Lobster Salad with Raspberry Sauce, Lamb & Tabouleh Pita Pockets, or Cheese Sticks with Pesto? They can all be made using this powerful, commercial strength blender, and the recipes are just a few of those included in the instruction/recipe booklet. You'll find it handy for a number of tasks in addition to crushing ice and making smoothies or cocktails. For instance, you might use this blender to make bread or cracker crumbs, to mix batter, to puree soup, and to emulsify dressings.

Amazon.com Review
A gorgeous piece of workmanship and powerful to boot, the Breville Classic Blend Master makes blending sauces, smoothies, drinks, and soups a pleasurable snap. The unit starts with an incredibly sturdy base combining a 580-watt commercial-strength motor and gleaming metal die-cast housing. The 6-way blade system, patented by Breville, is smartly engineered to work with the upward vortex of the pitcher for optimal mixing and consistency. Made from sturdy thick glass with a broad glass handle, the pitcher holds 48 ounces (1.4 liters) and is clearly marked with both metric and imperial measurements. One of the best parts of Breville's construction is the way the pitcher attaches without screwing on--just nestle it into four slots in the base, and it's ready to go. A tight-fitting lid prevents splashes, while the removable inner lid allows for mid-blending additions. Leak-proof and handsome, the pitcher's rubber-rimmed chrome base adds easy stability and makes it suitable for the table. Power settings include three distinct levels--with one specifically designed for ice--and a pulsing function. Perhaps on future versions, the power switch will be upgraded to metal, but its current plastic structure is sturdy enough. Outfitted with raised non-skid feet, the unit also comes with a one-year warranty and Breville's signature safety plug, which is easy to insert and remove from sockets. --Emily Bedard

1 out of 5 stars worked okay while it lasted   August 7, 2007
eponymous
Bought it in March 2005, and lo and behold, June 2007 - the blender was dead! Has anyone else had the same problem? I had an Osterizer before this that lasted 15+ years! Some one is out of touch with reality here, and I don't think its me. Breville seriously needs to assess the quality of their products if they want to be taken seriously.

5 out of 5 stars 5 stars--for the price   September 12, 2005

I did extensive reasearch before buying this blender.

I was looking for something that would dazzle my countertop as well as make dreamy smoothies every morning for my family of 4. Therefore, I wanted chrome, with the highest power motor for the lowest $.

Previously I had owned cheaper models that were basically disposable -- not only did they leave my smoothies chunky, they'd break down and I ended up buying a new blender every year or two. I wanted to invest in a more powerful motor, but didn't want to pay more than $200.

The Breville motor power met my expectations. And I was thrilled with the price.

I've had it for over a year now and my only dissapointment is the "chrome" finish is some sort of plastic. IT started to chip off of the blender jar base ring almost after teh first use, and just this week has started to chip off of the blender base itself. Underneath the "chrome" finish is a white plastic. The worst part about the chipping is that the chipped finish is razor sharp and we have cut ourselves badly several times-- especially on the jar ring which you have to handle each time to twist it off for washing. But we've become accustomed to wrapping a kitchen towel around the sharp thing to remove it and haven't had a bad cut in a long time.

I would have rated it just 4 stars for the cheap "chrome" finish, but for the price, it's a power ful motor and does a great job. And after a year+ the base itself still looks good sitting on the counter-- hence the 5 stars-- you get what you pay for.

I just wanted to add a review because I thought it was the least I could do considering other reviewers helped me make an educated choice. Early this year I was on the search for a blender and had come across many brands. I almost bought a stainless steel junkster at target, but luckily for me the item was out of stock. I went online and read dismal reviews about the said blender. It got me on the search and I finally narrowed my search down to this blender and I've never been so happy. I've blended walnuts, ice, smoothies galore, and am eager to try new recipes. I even got a great price through amazon rather then another online store that was charging me 15 to twenty bucks more. I got a steal for 69 bucks. Hopefully, it is cheaper now, but I'm not sure. Thank you to the reviewers before me. Sorry, I didn't get technical or anything 'cause I just wanted to praise the item. Try to eat as much fruits and vegetables as possible. Good health comes from a varied diet with nutrient rich organic love. Peace at my fellow consumers. Get outside once and while and stop playing Halo 2. Peace.

Now, I already own the Breville's "Juice Fountain Plus" So when I wanted a blender I looked for one of there items. I had high expectations for this blender since its better then there "Moda Bar Blender" With a larger cup size and a stronger motor. With the one year motor warranty I said "What's there to lose?" and I didn't lose anything, this blender was everything they said it would be and better. I work out a lot and regular protein shakes stick to the glass and it's alright to drink. With this bad boy I throw some strawberries with bananas and milk, then top it off with a scoop of protein powder and BAM I have a perfect protein shake and it makes 5 cups of it. Also with the 6 blades it takes 10 seconds for anything in this blender. Ice is done in seconds and on top of all that it's so easy to use/clean. Hot water and some dish soap and blend it, it tells you to do it in the manual and it works! I would recommend with multi-purpose blender to anyone and with the 1-year warranty you can't go wrong with this hot item and it doesn't hurt the wallet that much either.

I love this blender. Granted, I have not owned a decent blender before (all previous blenders have been plastic cheap ones), but my expectations were far exceeded with this blender.

It is very heavy-duty, and I like the simplicity of the controls. Who needs 25 speeds on a blender?

I make fruit shakes every morning, which consist of bananas, apples, grapes, frozen strawberries, kiwi, and soy milk. I fill it up most of the way, put the lid on, and flip the switch. I can then walk away and come back a minute later to a very well-blended shake.

I have never had to stir items, shake the blender, or remove air pockets with this blender. I have not tried any iced drinks in this blender, so I can't say how it does with ice. But judging from what I have blended in it, I don't think it would have any problems making margaritas. :)
