Editorial Reviews:

Amazon.com Review
If you take the trouble to buy fresh gourmet coffee beans, you want a grinder that enhances the flavor and aroma of your morning brew. Krups has been making household grinders for years, and this shiny, chrome-finished mill is an attractive, easy-to-use choice for your beans. Two thick, straight blades guarantee even grinding, and with the pulse-touch button, the coarseness of the grind is completely up to you. Ever thought of making your own fresh curry powder? The grinder also works well with hard spices such as cloves and cardamom. Just wipe clean with a sponge or cloth between uses, and the lid is dishwasher-safe if it needs an extra scrub. --Jill Lightner

Product Description
True coffee lovers know there's more to the making of the coffee for richer, fuller, more sophisticated flavor. It's in the grinding of the bean - and when it's ground. When coffee is ground at the supermarket and then stored in your refrigerator, some of the natural oils are lost. Grinding beans just before placing them into the Coffeemaker preserves those natural qualities. This grinder is affordable and simple to use.

2 out of 5 stars $30 For A Coffee Grinder! That's Too Much!   June 24, 2004

You can get a nice coffee maker for $30! Just use a regular blender to grind your coffee beans OR find a cheaper coffee grinder. But anyway I don't grind my coffee anymore, I just buy it already ground. It's just a lot easier.

1 out of 5 stars I hate this coffee grinder   January 17, 2004

I had the Krups fast touch grinder for 12 years and loved it. It only finally died because I cleaned it with water. I replaced it with this Krups grinder and it makes a huge mess. The stainless steel design seems to cause an excessive amount of static electricity so the coffee dust goes everywhere. I've put up with for about 6 months and today I am ordering the original fast touch which is still available in black and white.

1 out of 5 stars Looks great, but....   March 24, 2003

As with all plastic grinders, static is a problem.

The plastic broke on my unit very quickly.

Any kind of blade mill grinder is going to result in uneven coffee grounds, and it will be impossible to get a fine grind. For $10 more you can get a cheap burr grinder, which gives better results (flavor!)

1 out of 5 stars Lousy Engineering   May 8, 2002

The static electricity created by this machine assures that your coffee cannot be transferred to your brewer basket without major gyrations. The charged coffee particles will cling to your hands, your clothes, your kitchen wall. This is a badly engineered product, proof, if we needed it, that the Germans were not the Master Race after all. Now about my BMW...

1 out of 5 stars Inferior Product   January 27, 2002

I paid a premium price for this model for the "chrome" appearance. Once I tried it, I realized it was not a good product - lid jammed, coffee grounds spilled, even the grind was not as good as the old Krups model. Still, for the look I put up with it. Now the plastic has broken - both the cover and the part that must push down to start the grinding process. My experience was confirmed by two other review writers. I give it a 4 for looks and a -5 (minus five) for quality. It has been some time since I have found such a truly bad kitchen appliance. Krups should be ashamed!
