Amazon.com Review
A stylish grinder for the serious coffee buff, this Cuisinart Supreme Grind automatic burr mill provides plenty of options and good results in an attractive and tidy structure. This makes it a great appliance for houses where coffee is a steady dietary staple and preferences vary from espresso to French drip. Outfitted with a heavy-duty motor, the machine has 18 grind settings ranging from fine to extra-coarse, which are controlled by a clearly marked, pleasantly clicking dial. Rotate the hopper to personal preference, and the machine does the rest, using burr plates for a highly uniform grind that protects bean oils and releases more flavor. Automatic operation in this grinder covers quantity as well--simply set the amount slide control anywhere from 4 to 18 cups. The grinder shuts off when the desired level is reached. Transfer of ready grounds to a coffee pot or espresso group is quick and tidy, because the grind chamber slides out with its clever lid in place.

Smart and elegant, the grinder has brushed stainless steel housing and black accents in durable plastic. The hopper, hopper lid, grinding burr, and grind chamber all remove easily for cleanup, and a safety feature keeps the grinder from operating without the hopper and chamber in place. Standing 6-3/4 by 9-3/4 by 5 inches, the unit has built-in power cord storage at its base. Cuisinart includes a coffee scoop/cleaning brush in one and covers the machine with an 18-month warranty. --Emily Bedard

Product Description
Why get a burr grinder? Burr plates uniformly grind whole coffee beans, protecting delicate oils and releasing more flavor. This grinder can handle everything from ultra fine espresso grind to extra coarse percolator grind. It holds a full 1/2 pound of beans and dispenses grounds into a removable hopper.

4 out of 5 stars Great Grinder   March 7, 2010

This is our second grinder...the first one just wore out from years of use. Great bargain for the money, but make sure you grind you coffee before going to bed or you will wake the entire house up in the morning..it is noisey!

5 out of 5 stars Love it!   March 2, 2010

I've had the Cuisinart DBM-8 grinder for over a year. I am very pleased with its performance. You can adjust the grind to your preference and it holds enough beans to last about 5 - 7 days (I brew one pot a day). Yes it's loud but aren't all grinders loud??? The only issue I had was when I let the hole get clogged (the hole where the freshly ground beans pass from the grinder into the reservoir) and that was my own fault for not monitoring that and periodically cleaning it out. It can get a little messy when scooping the ground coffee out for use, but I place the reservoir on top of a paper towel and simply wipe up any stray grounds afterward. I would definitely recommend this product!

Very simplistic and really brings out best flavor. Read some previous reviews about "messy" but hey we use our kitchen and clean up after ourselves. we recommend this product.

4 out of 5 stars Does What I Wanted   February 27, 2010
Max Weigel
Had this about a month now and have been using it every day with great results after a few days of expirementing with the grind and quantity settings. The "cup" setting is a timer that ranges from 4-12 cups but I tend to use a lot of beans and I found that it was leaving un-ground beans in the hopper when I was using the 4 cup setting so now I just set it to 6 cup and measure the beans my self, so it just ends up running 10 seconds or so after there are no beans left. I think this might be useful if you fill the hopper and wanted to just grind the right amount of beans for each pot of coffee but I store my beans in an air-tight container. I have a drip coffee maker so have only been playing with the "medium" grind settings so I can't speak to the grinders ability to make fine or corse grinds but there seems to be plenty of range to make anyone happy. As others have said, it does produce a bit of bean dust that sticks in the output container but no more than my old blade grinder and it there are no whole beans left over like with the blade grinder.
Two things that kind of caught me off guard with this grinder are it's size, it is about the size of a 12 cup coffee maker, and it is pretty loud, kind of sounding like a hair dryer. When I am making coffee during the day it does not seem loud but at 5am when the rest of the house is asleep it seems a lot louder.
Overall I am very happy with this unit for the price. With my blade grinder I was always fighting for a consistent grind and often ended up with several untouched beans or too-fine coffee that ended up making strong but bitter coffee and even caused an over flow or two from the filter clogging.

4 out of 5 stars Well worth the price   February 22, 2010

I purchased the Cuisinart in early 2010, to replace an Ariete I purchased last year after the Hopper broke twice. Piece of junk!
I really enjoy Coffee made from fresh beans from a Burr Grinder; much superior to blade grinding.

I almost didn't buy the Cuisinart DMB8 because I was afraid I would have trouble with another inexpensive grinder. After reading many good reviews I decided to take a chance and get the Cuisinart. I have been pleasantly surprised as the Cuisinart is quieter and doesn't jam when using oily coffees, just the opposite of the Ariete. It makes a full flavored cup of Coffee and looks good in my kitchen. Is has a Hopper design that feeds beans more smoothly in to the Burr, another failing of the Ariete.

My only complaint is it can be a little difficult to put the grounds drawer back in the machine; you must line it up correctly and push firmly. It is a little messy and tends to get some grounds on the counter top, but I suspect all burr grinders with the drawer underneath are just as bad.

For someone who is either new to Burr grinders or who is not in a position for a more spendy unit I would strongly recommend the Cuisinart
