Coffee Mill June 27, 2008 H. K. Sacks (Pittsburgh, PA) Quiet and effective. The only downside is there is no built-in timer. I use a stop watch to grind consistent quantities. The grind is uniform and the glass carafe doesn't build up a static charge.
great grinder May 19, 2008 A. Franz (Jamesport, NY USA) After using it for a few months I'm very happy with the grinder, its very consistent and can be cleaned easily. There are many suggestions on the internet how to adjust the grinding mechanism.
KitchenAid Coffee Grinder April 12, 2008 Craig Edgerton (Parachute, CO United States) KitchenAid KPCG100NP Pro Line Burr Coffee Grinder, Nickel Pearl It is large, much bigger then the last five I wore out. It is quiet but far from silent. Grind is exactly as promised and quick enough. The fit of the receiving cup could be improved and there is that petty mess they all seem to experience. All considered, it's 100% better then any others I have seen and used.
Four hints for good results March 10, 2008 Peter A. Colman (Manlius, NY USA) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I've used my grinder daily for about 14 months. I think it is great. Hints: (1) Although it does not have a timer, I just weigh out the amount of beans I want for the pot I'm using, and put that amount of beans into the hopper. I then run it until it is empty. That doesn't take long. The top of the hopper just lifts off. (2) To avoid beans hanging up on the edge where the hopper meets the metal housing, I simply cut the top of a round plastic canola oil bottle to make a clear plastic funnel. It fits inside the glass housing, and I leave it there all the time. It is as wide as the hopper at the top, and small enough at the bottom so that the beans have to go right into the grinder. Because it is a clear plastic funnel, you don't notice that it is there. (3) Before I pull the grounds container out, I jiggle it just a little. That cuts down on mess. (4) Clean it every few weeks. If the auger won't come out, stick a chopstick in from the top and push.
Very very pleased November 26, 2007 Scott Lawrence (Concord, MA USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I'm delighted with this machine. I did find the factory setting to be too coarse at the fine end, but a few minutes following the instructions corrected that, and now it's excellent. The factory setting at the coarse end is very very coarse, and even with it reset for the finest possible grind at the fine end I wouldn't use the coarsest setting even for my press-pot. The uniformity of the grind is outstanding. The feed problems people mention are true - I do have to poke a few of the beans to get them over the lip at the bottom of the input jar, but I don't find that much trouble. Using a glass output container really seems to reduce the static problems (that and the fact that even at a fine setting there is little 'dust' generated). This machine is _very_ sturdy. I don't think it will need replacing for a _long_ time.
