Excellent value and works great. Unscrew the tamping head and place a drop of two of thread locker (or super glue) to prevent it from coming unscrewed

The image of the tamper looks like it is one solid piece of metal. It is not. It screws together and mine was loose when I got it. That was a bit disappointing, but once I tightend it up, I was ready to tamp on. The fit is perfectly snug when used with the Gaggia porta filter assembly. The large palm knob allows serious pressure. This simple device imediately improved the quality of my espresso.

For $10 this is hard to beat, works great with my Gaggia Evolution. It is two piece, the handle screws into the base, but it's very sturdy feeling. Also the unit is not shiny like the picture makes it appear, it's more of an unpolished aluminum look. You can spend a lot more for a metal tamper and get something that works no better than this one.

So many tampers cost five times more and, to me, do not have the clean great lines of this piece. Aluminum, and I expected something very light, but it has such heft that I rolled it around a bit and wondered if, somehow, it was brushed steel. FIts to perfection in my Rancilo Silvia portafilter. A real classic.
