I got this grinder for our wedding in July 08 and 2 years later it is pretty much on its last leg. It has been used every day but I thought it was going to last longer. Maybe that's normal for a product of this price range.....not sure but I like things like this to last longer so I think I'll upgrade to a more high quality unit next time. On the flipside it isn't too expensive so I guess 2 years isn't too bad.

I AM NOT A COFFEE MEISTER, BUT I DO APPRECIATE A GOOD CUP OF COFFEE. EVER BEEN TO THE STORE AND SMELLED THE FRESH BEANS, THEN WONDER WHY YOUR COFFEE DOES NOT TASTE THAT GOOD? WELL, THIS GRINDER MADE ALL THE DIFFERENCE IN THE WORLD!! I've only had it for a week, but believe me, I look forward to the morning coffee now. This machine seems to work brilliantly! I was concerned about other people saying the plastic cup is flimsy, but I liked the looks and the other comments, so I bought it. They are right, the plastic catch cup is thin plastic, but then how much wear and tear does it get? Not much really, so I don't think that is really a factor. This machine looks good on the counter, and does a wonderful job of grinding coffe. Buy it!! You won't be sorry! Bob

After reading the reviews on Amazon and elsewhere, I bought it. For a week it was wonderful. Then it jammed on medium roast beans being ground for a drip coffee maker. Cleaned it again, thoroughly, as I had after every use. Still jammed.
In addition, removing the burr to clean it is difficult for anyone with even average size fingers. Sent it back to Amazon. Though I am sorely tempted to try again, I won't. Removing the burr for cleaning is too much of a nuisance.

We have had the conical burr grinder for less than three weeks and everything is working without problem. Some reviews have mentioned trouble with the grinding mechanism. It may be the case that the mechanism was seated loosely when put together. I noticed that a gentle counter clock wise turn of about 1/8th of an inch 'locked' the mechanism into place. That is to say, the mechanism could not be lifted straight up out of place. There has been no trouble whatsoever with the mechanism. Perhaps that turn helped.
