Deader Than Doornail April 9, 2010 Clayton M. Denton (Homewood, IL USA) We bought one of these in January. It expired this morning (April 9th). Apparently these were made by Melitta, but the product line was sold to Toastmaster who slapped their name on it. It had all the faults others have pointed out but at least, until this morning, it worked. Neither company seems to want to claim it as their responsibility.Don't waste your money.
Didn't work for me March 26, 2010 Oleg Kharitonov (Bellevue, WA, USA) Maybe I got a defective unit, maybe it was simply bad design: both the fine and the coarse settings produced the same grind; the lid wouldn't stay on; and the capacities were completely arbitrary. I ended up returning it and getting a simple blade grinder--which works surprisingly well, despite all the warnings about how it's not for espresso use.
Very Disappointed March 23, 2010 Richard Arias (Ca USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Used this coffee grinder for a couple of weeks and it stopped working. I returned it and hopefully I will get a refund.
Problem with burr grinder March 21, 2010 Joanne C. Griffing (Los Angeles CA) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Toastmaster burr grinder does OK grinding cofffee beans, but plastic top occasionally flies off during grinding, splilling the ground coffee all over our kitchen.
Insubstantial, but does the job March 20, 2010 S. Head (Missouri) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Purchased this grinder for a road trip where I wanted a burr grinder that was relatively light and small. It does the job with some powder mixed in with the with the fairly consistently ground coffee. The grinder was purchased for drip coffee and for this use it is an adequate grinder.
It's a good idea to unplug the grinder after using as it is easy to hit the grind button when removing or replacing the coffee receptacle. I have done this once spewing coffee across the floor. The rubber feet are not needed due to the fact that you must hold the grinder while grinding to keep the bowl lid in place. The plastic lid to the coffee receptacle is a bit fiddly requiring you to pay attention when replacing the cover. I have dropped the cover countless times trying to get it back in place.
