| Editorial Reviews:
Product Description Barista grade control for a variety of coffee grinds. The removable bean hopper holds 1/2 a pound of coffee beans. The motor drives the bottom burrs and the top plate is stationary. The distance you position them apart precisely determines grind size. The easy-to-read settings allow for grind choices from ultra-fine for Turkish coffee to large and coarse for percolators.

Works great for ultra-fine grinding June 29, 2008 webgrunt (USA) I got this unit to grind chia seeds (the black ones which have hard shells) and it works wonderfully. Chia seeds are a little smaller than sesame seeds so many other grinders won't get a fine enough grind to grind chia seeds.
A terrific grinder! June 26, 2008 Linda (Western Montana) I finally decided to replace my hateful older model Capresso grinder that I've had for about 10 years. What an improvement! My Capresso blew coffee particles ALL OVER the counter. I hated to use it because it was so messy and it was very prone to clogging which was a nightmare to take care of. This one's clean and quiet and no mention is made as to what to do if it clogs, so I'm guessing it won't.
Timer problems June 25, 2008 JRC (San Mateo, CA USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I've had the unit about six months. It worked well at first and does a reasonably good job at grinding coffee, but as others have experienced, the timer has stopped working correctly. It's entirely random - 1 second, 5 seconds, 20 seconds, regardless of what it's set to. So I end up standing there having to push the button 5 or 6 times to grind enough coffee for a cup of espresso. Breville seems to have serious quality control issues. The pump on my Breville ESP8XL espresso machine, which I've also had about six months, just failed. I will not buy another Breville product.
Breville BCG450XL Ikon Grinder June 21, 2008 Dr.J (Texas) The Breville 450XL is an excellent grinder. It's easy to use and provides very consistent grinds. We've had several other Conical Burr grinders over about 10 years and this is the best yet. It's very quiet and has no static dust problems in the humid climate of South Texas. I have no hesitation recommending this grinder for home use.
Perfect product! June 19, 2008 C. Bruya (E-burg, WA) This conical burr coffee grinder is VERY well made and produces an excellent grind. Looks good on the counter, doesn't take up much space and (probably the best thing) NO loose grind on the counter! The real test: my wife loves it!
