Amazon.com Review Wake up and smell the coffee--not just freshly brewed coffee but freshly ground coffee for full-bodied flavor. This coffeemaker does everything but serve a steaming cup on a silver tray. For the full experience, here's how it goes: pour water into reservoir (a window gauge shows the desired level up to 10 cups); spoon roasted coffee beans into permanent stainless-steel filter basket (no disposable filters needed); program mill to grind beans as you wish (seven settings, from fine to coarse); set clock to current time of day; program timer to begin automatic grinding and brewing process at the hour and minute you wish; sleep like a baby; savor coffee precisely as you like it when you awake. Ground coffee can be used instead of whole beans, and the whole coffee-making process can be initiated instantly without setting the timer. Other attributes: dripping ceases when the tempered-glass carafe is removed from the nonstick warming plate; shutting down is automatic after one hour to prevent damage; cord stores in the rear of the unit. This is a thoroughly modern coffeemaker, suitable for people who take coffee seriously but crave convenience. --Fred Brack

Look Forward to my Coffee Waiting every Morning from Freshly Ground Beans June 13, 2008 Pam Blacklock (Little Rock, AR USA) Melitta MEMB1B Mill & Brew 10-Cup Coffeemaker, Black This coffeemaker is a combination mill and brewer. It has an automatic timer that will grind beans and brew coffee at a specified time. It is very easy to clean and operate but you must read the directions. I love having my coffee brewed from freshly ground beans! You may also pick the coarseness of the beans, when they go through the grinder. Before purchasing this Melitta coffer mill/brewer, I was grinding the beans in a mill the night before and then getting coffee ready for next a.m. that way - for years! This is much easier that cleaning a separate mill. The coffee in pot stays hot for awhile. The only things I would change would be for the pot to hold 12 cups and for the machine not to automatically shut-up ofter an hour. I wish it would stay on for 2 hours but it is not hardly any trouble to turn the burner back on. Just have to remember to do it! Thank goodness for microwaves, which is used it the coffee has been off for awhile. If more coffee is needed, it takes about 15 minutes for another pot to brew. The warmer plate seems to keep the coffee warmer longer, after it shuts off, than my old Mr. Coffee, which was plain jane with a timer and it went out a couple of months ago. Not even three years old. Overall, I give this pot and A+ and I could be biased since I have wanted a coffee mill/brewer for about 2 years now! Was very reasonably priced, compared to store prices and it is just heaven to wake up to such delicious coffee!! I would recommended and will buy another one when this one wears out. Great item for those who love their coffee like me and want that great robust taste! P.S. You can also use pre-ground coffee if necessary and skip the beans and the mill/grinder. You won't be disappointed! A very satisfied consumer.
Grind and brew and minimal fuss June 5, 2008 Georgia Smiley (Los Angeles) We used to have the Cuisinart grind and brew machine but it was a royal pain to clean. The Melitta makes a swell cup of coffee and it's a breeze to clean. I just wish I could buy the filter baskets separately because after repeated use and cleanings, they can tear. All in all a simple to operate machine that makes a great cup of coffee. I will echo a previous review that you have to add more beans than recommended if you like your java strong.
I was disappointed June 2, 2008 Susi Larson I was so excited to purchase this product, as I love fresh ground coffee and usually brew it at the same time each morning. The problem? The lowest setting for the grinder time still grinds the coffee for 15 seconds. This makes the coffee grounds way to fine and creates a distinctly bitter flavor. I only want to grind for about 8 seconds. Also some of the fine grinds pass through the gold filter and leave residue in your cup. I will be returning this product. Sorry!
Easy and Perfect June 2, 2008 J. Mushinsky (New Jersey) I bought this coffee pot after reading reviews of it on multiple sites. I wanted a fair priced coffee pot to replace my grinder and coffee pot I had now. This all in one is great. Easy to clean, brews a nice fresh pot. My only issue is the plate stays hot for only one hour but we are managing fine around that issue. Other than that I cannot complain, just put water and beans in and press the on button, it cannot get easier than that.
This is my second one May 29, 2008 Bill Ledbetter (Yantis, TX USA) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
We bought this as a backup. We love the coffeemaker and had broken some parts on it and while waiting for the replacement parts to show up I decided to get another one just in case someone decided to quit producing this machine. If you get this coffeemaker be sure you carefully close the lid on the brew basket top (hold the button in while closing) and always hold the buttons in on the brewing container when you take it off to wash. These parts broke after a year or so of use. The parts were easy to get but if you're careful should not break. We wouldn't want to be without our Melitta. Yea, it's somewhat of a pain to clean but makes wonderful coffee every time.
