Under Counter Coffee Pot September 1, 2008 Martha Cretin I really like my new under the counter Black and Decker coffee pot. I am so glad you all decided to reinstate this piece. It is a really a space saver and so much easier to use, Thank You.
Black & Decker ODC440B Spacemaker Coffeemaker August 30, 2008 Frank Fornara (Texas) Black & Decker ODC440B Spacemaker Coffeemaker, Black Seems to work ok. No battery back up for timer or clock so if there is a power failure clock must be reset each time. Mounting under cabinet does not allow for more than 2" overhang. Our cabinets have 3" lip. Had to get separate long bolts ( 4") and additional spacers. It works but is not rigid. Produces reasonable coffee but condensation drips fom under top of unit and drips onto counter top.
Not as good as the old model August 27, 2008 J. Ulrich The under-the-cabinet design is wonderful, especially since I have 2 units. The early 90s Black and Decker Spacemaker units were far superior to this one. This new design drips condensation from inside the unit onto the counter instead of catching it in the filter basket like the origional design did. The filter basket does not snap in tighly enough. Sometimes it slips loose causing the auto-shut-off to close. The filter basket then overflows and a mixture of coffee and grounds spills out all over the counter. The mounting rails are much weaker than the previous design making the unit rock and feel loose on the cabinet (a block placed between the back of the unit and the wall fixed this). Why did they take a perfectly good product and cheap it up to the point where it no longer works correctly? I don't know. Somebody should make a better one, like Black and Decker's old one.
satisfied customer August 25, 2008 Adrienne Pipes (Kona, Hawaii) I have had 2 spacemaker coffee machines before for at least 15 years. this new one is just as good. I have had no problems with it. Yes, the screws stick into the cupboard above but only a little and that shelf works fine for glasses or small bowls. The bad reviews almost made me hesitate but I am glad I purchased it.
Leaking top August 16, 2008 James Wilson The coffee maker was just what we wanted but the top of the carafe leaked on the first one. There is a plastic ring with the pour spout and it leaked between that and the glass. Oh well, Amazon sent a replacement and it seems to be fine so far so we are happy. Thank you for the great service Amazon.
