Great coffee pot June 24, 2008 K. Robinson (Leawood, KS United States) I purchased this maker and love it. Coffee still hot and drinkable after 6 hours. Coffee brews directly from the brew basket into the pot. You can't even see it. Doesn't make a mess around the lid as do most thermal pots. Pretty blue LED lights and it beeps when done brewing so I can hear from the bedroom that it's done. Haven't had it break as the previous poster.
Looks great/Operates Poorly April 19, 2008 R. Norris (North of Boston, MA) 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
I really wanted to love this coffee maker.....I was so excited to buy it and bring it home...... I loved the sleek design and heard Saeco was a good name. When I got it home, I followed all the instructions for the set up, (de-calcification, etc.) It says it is an 8 cup coffee maker I'm not sure what form of measuring they used when determining this, but we got 4 cups out of a carafe and had to brew another pot. The coffee was never super hot, but did taste really good. After 2 weeks of owning the machine we noticed it's first flaw. After the brewing cycle is complete, the machine beeps and shuts off. You are instructed to remove the carafe from the post and place it on a trivet. To our disappointment, the coffee kept dripping causing a mess on our counter. That same week, while I had the carafe on the trivet (full of coffee), I heard this popping noise and couldn't figure out what it was.....The white acrylic that surrounds the stainless steel carafe had cracked in 2 places...I never dropped it, or put it in the dishwasher, so I was stunned. I called Saeco and they quickly shipped me a replacement, A week later the plastic internal filter house has a small spring in it that allowed the coffee to drip into the carafe while brewing.....Well guess what? that broke too! Needless to say, we ended up returning it. So, for the money, I would pass. I ended up buying the Cuisinart Brew Central 12 cup coffee maker and am very happy w/it.
