Amazon.com Review
Combining the adjustable fineness selector of Krups's burr grinder with its built-in quantity control produces the perfectly tailored cup of joe. Start by choosing from 17 different textures ranging from very fine for espresso machines to very course for use in a French press. Next, determine the number of coffee drinkers and adjust the quantity setting accordingly. As the grinder begins its work, it uses a burr milling process to produce consistently ground beans while preserving the coffee's natural aroma. The machine automatically stops once the designated quantity has been achieved and the coffee extracts easily via a removable container. Topped with a large capacity hopper, the grinder fills effortlessly and provides easy access to its removable burr for cleaning. Measuring 10 by 4-1/2 by 5-1/2 inches, this tool comes with Krups's 1-year warranty. -- Amy Arnold

5 out of 5 stars Great grinder   January 2, 2009

This grinder is the greatest. It will grind down to a powder and that is what is needed for expresso etc. Also it is easy to clean.

4 out of 5 stars Learning to love it   January 2, 2009
Janine (Oregon)
I've had this grinder for about four months, and overall, I think it is a good value for the price and features. I didn't want to spend $100's on a grinder, so after comparing different brands, prices, and features, I chose the Krups.

It's quirky, for sure, but it does get the job done! The container for the ground coffee could have been designed better, as the static electricity makes the fine coffee fly out unexpectedly. I would have liked an attached lid on the container. And the container is very touchy to slide back in -- you have to line it up just right (which I never seem to do on the first try). The small hole on the back of the container ALWAYS drops some ground coffee on the counter when you pull out the box.

The grinder sometimes free-spins as if no coffee beans have dropped down, even though the hopper is full. This is easily remedied by giving it a little jostle, but probably will cause the motor to wear out sooner than it should.

The selector for the number of cups is way off, but once you get used to it and find the right setting for your personal taste, it isn't a problem. I probably wouldn't like to be changing it and adjusting it for different quantities; we always just brew a full pot.

All in all, it does the job, and I'm satisfied with the value.

1 out of 5 stars Never worked properly   January 2, 2009
Jane Dick
Out of the box the product never ground the proper amount of beans. It would either grind too little amount, or it would jam and keep grinding all the beans regarless of the setting. We sent it back after a week of use and at least a couple of hours trying to get it to work.

5 out of 5 stars Krups grinder is awesome   December 24, 2008
Laurie A. Wood (Ukiah, CA)
Bought this a month or so ago and I love it! It doesn't hold as many beans as I thought it would, but I only need to refill it about twice a week - I make coffee 7 days a week - every morning!

It's easy to use and the coffee is perfectly ground each time! I totally recommend it. AND, buying it off Amazon.com was so easy and it showed up 1 day earlier than I expected it to!

1 out of 5 stars not for espresso   December 16, 2008
Boukisan (Atlanta)
This is actually not even a coffee grinder. It's a device used to explore the effects of static on ground coffee particles. It's explosive and fun!

Examine the clear plastic bin walls to view magnetic field patterns in coffee. Touch the plastic in the wrong place or try to remove ground coffee to discover really fun explosion of coffee powder! The curved trajectory of the particles reminds me of illustrations of magnetic fields - or thousands of tiny fleas jumping onto your hand and wrist en masse.

If you have no choice and must make espresso with this toy, just
1. grind it two clicks away from finest setting
2. run it through again*, but this time on the finest setting
3. rationalize liberally

*Carefully shake the grinder with a rocking motion, or else ground coffee will not run through.
