We have been using this brand percolator for thirty plus years. They have replaced a poor power cord connection with one that really works well.
All of our friends and guests are overwhelmed by the quality of coffee this percolator makes. Most use the drip type and complain of weak,not hot coffee.
We bought this one to have when the present one "dies". Could be years, but,we wanted good coffee with no interuption !

I chose this unit because of the stylish looks and so that I could get percolator style coffee. I read the instructions and set out to use it.
The manual recommended cleaning the unit twice before using it. Both times resulted in a watery sludge under the unit. I didn't submerge it, so why would it do that? I considered returning it, but because of the hour and the effort, decided to wait until the next day. It worked the next day without an issue.
Perhaps a week later, the sludge returned. Then it went away.
Within a week, I got hot water instead of coffee!?! I suspected a thermostat. I noticed the bottom plastic plate now has a huge crack in it. Tried 2 pots, hot water. Tried again the next day and it worked....
Now, every other day it's blowing the GFCI circuit in my kitchen. I have to use a thermos to keep coffee hot for a second after brewing.
My best guess is that the thermostat is causing it to overload the circuit or that water somehow got in between the stainless steel and plastic and is causing the short. Either way, it's terrible design.
I have never been so fired up to write a negative review before. But the hit-or-miss mornings are starting to build up.
I need some coffee...

This Percolator is No good Had 2 Both Are Dead Now . Got it all ready pluged it in and it made a load POP sound . Smoke cam from the base . STAY AWAY FROM THIS FROM THIS Percolator . I am now on a hunt for a new one ..

Maybe we hold the record. Our 40616 failed 2 months AFTER the warranty expired. Same thing, thermostat. You have to be VERY careful when you put the stem into the bottom. A little off center and you get luke warm tea. Maybe I'll see if I can get thermostat.

I just bought this percolator after my Melita one quit on me....2 days out of the box and the bottom is already leaking--yes the coffee is excellent, piping hot, however it is leaking a slow leak onto my kitchen counter top. I'm taking it back and trying another brand. Disappointed.
