great griddle!!!! July 27, 2008 R Scuzzarella (everett,ma.) I would recommend this griddle to any one with a large family, there is more than enough room to cook large amounts, heats up great and keeps even heat throughout.I also love the angle setting, to be able to let the grease just roll away from your food, especially when you are cooking bacon. Great buy for a great griddle!!!!!
Why Mess Around? Get the Big One!! July 21, 2008 4Kids4Us I received this item for Christmas last year, or was it my birthday? Typically, I do not ask for a kitchen appliance, but this is one exception I can think of. We have a family of 7. Making pancakes or French toast on the stove, while easy, is very time-consuming. Making it on the stove for my family, plus guests is just ridiculous. This griddle is a God-send. The first time I used it, I made a loaf of bread's worth of French toast in, I'd say, 20 minutes or less. This griddle does heat relatively evenly. I do find that some areas of the griddle brown things a little faster than others. It's not a big deal. I just shuffle things around as I flip. The cord on this is not very long, so I do have to use an extension cord to reach the outlet. I hate to do this, but, whatever. Cooking is fast, clean-up is simple. This is exactly what I've needed for years.
Big yes, but poor design July 20, 2008 Jennifer S. Johnson (Phoenix, AZ) The Good: 1) Large cooking surface 2) non-stick surface works well and has held up to >1 year of use. The Bad: 1) Uneven heating - impossible to cook pancakes evenly, but can get somewhat reasonable results moving things around while cooking. 2) Drip pan too small to store the thermostat so you have to find some place to put it where it won't get lost or fall on your head while you are taking the griddle off the shelf (don't store on top of unit ;-). Every other griddle I've owned and seen has this capability and I really miss it on this one(I actually find this more annoying then the uneven heat).
Great Giant Griddle June 25, 2008 VillagerJ (Hot Springs Village, AR) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This giant griddle is going to help this Nana to sit down to breakfast with the little grandchildren when they come to visit. I took the advice of other reviewers and let it heat up for 10 minutes. The heating element is located around the outside (engineering design flaw) and so there can be cool spots in the center if you don't get it really hot. I am tickled pink with this product!!!
Cooks pancakes unevenly June 13, 2008 James Miller (New York City) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Though this BigGriddle is a simple design, it cooks pancakes unevenly. This is because the heating coil wraps around underneath the thin aluminum griddle just one circumference for such a large surface area. Pancakes cook unevenly, ending up looking light and dark on both sides. Also, the power cord is very short. Presto really skimped on the design and materials to maximize profit motive. What else is new... Save your money. You'll see these at garage sales soon.
