Spin On A Classic Game
Built in the exact shape and size of the original Rubik's Cube, the Rubik's Revolution features six different colored sides -- each with its own game. Unlike the original toy, the sides of this plastic cube don't rotate to solve a single puzzle. Instead, each fixed face of the cube has a lighted button in its center square. When you turn on this electronic toy, the talking cube asks you to press a color button for one of the six games. This robotic woman's voice also calls out the colors and gives you your score at the end.

6 Fast-Paced Games
"Light Speed" requires you to turn off the lighted cube lights as they pop up. The faster you can do it the greater the challenge and the better your score will be. In "Rapid Recharge" it's your mission to light up the entire cube at once -- and quickly -- before the squares fade out.

Like the memorable game of Simon, "Pattern Panic" challenges you to memorize and repeat a growing sequence of lights. Logic and reason could help you crack the secret code in "Code Cracker," while "Cube Catcher" is a race against the clock to turn off as many lights as possible. Last but not least, "Multiplayer Madness" lets you compete against your friends. Passing the cube back and forth, you have to turn the lights off faster and faster before time runs out. The last player not eliminated is the winner.

Fun, Easy, and Addictive
Caution: this fun cube game may be addictive. While the hard plastic cube holds up to heavy use, including the occasional fall as players pass it back and forth in "Multiplayer Madness," the holographic colored squares can start peeling back without much effort. If this happen, kids should ask their parents to glue or tape the squares back down. While the Rubik's Revolution is easy to learn -- mastering the toy is another story. But unlike the classic Rubik's Cube, which isn't for everyone, just about anybody can and will get better and better at this game with a little practice.

1 out of 5 stars Too dang loud and annoying!!!   September 27, 2008
S. Williams (Olympia, WA USA)
This toy is very misleading. It has nothing to do with a rubiks cube since the pieces don't turn. It's basically a very annoyingly loud simon game. The volume was so loud and impossible to adjust that my son was scared by it and wouldn't play with it. I am hoping to return this. Do not buy this toy. It's a complete waste of money.

5 out of 5 stars This Game Rocks   August 25, 2008

These people really need to get a life, this game isn't meant to twist and turn as someone else said. If they had read what the product was and what it actually did they wouldn't be disappointed. This is a fun game, we played this on our family camping trip and everyone enjoyed it. Don't give something a bad rating because you didn't read before purchasing. A Rubik's Cube is a Rubik's Cube..The Rubik's Resolution is a whole new game.

5 out of 5 stars Nothing like the original, but fun   June 16, 2008

Most of the people complaining about the Revolution are those who thought it would be an actual electronic Rubik's Cube that you could scramble and race to solve. If you actually did some minimal research before racing to the toy store, you would learn that it's not an actual Rubik's Cube, but an electronic game similar to Simon and Bop It. There are 6 games. In Light Speed, one of the 6 buttons on the Cube will light up and you need to push it as fast as you can. In Rapid Recharge, you need to "charge" the 6 sides by rapidly pushing the buttons. Pattern Panic is exactly like Simon. You have to memorize a pattern the Cube gives you and repeat it as it gets more and more intricate. Cube Catcher is like Light Speed except multiple lights will be lit and you need to hit at least 70% in 30 second intervals. Multiplayer Madness is essentially Light Speed for up to 6 people. You push the lit button and pass the Cube onto the next player. Code Cracker is just a logic game where you have to guess the code by trial and error.

Being a fan of the original Rubik's Cube, I can sincerely say I've enjoyed the time I've had with my Rubik's Revolution. The games are a bit simplistic, but challenging and you do learn different strategies and patterns to get better scores and times. My only complaint is about the stickers, which can peel off with extended use of the Cube. Thankfully, you can order free replacement stickers at [...]

2 out of 5 stars Not the original, but what is?   June 1, 2008

I purchased Rubik's Revolution not fully knowing what it was ... other than the next generation Rubik's cube. Like most people, I imagine, upon opening the package my first attempt to interact with the toy was turning the sides. I was quite surprised when they did not move. Next I noticed the on/off switch an began playing. Each colored side offers a different variation of the same game:

* Press blue to play "light speed" This version of the game requires you to press the light which appears in the various colors in a given amount of time ... the goal is to press as many lights as you can.

* Press yellow to play "Rapid recharge" This version requires you to press whichever color begins to flash ... warning you each time they do - again quantity is the goal.

* Press green to play "Pattern panik" This game is something like the old Simon game Pocket Simon a color sequence will begin and you must follow; gaining a new color after each correct sequence.

* Press silver to play "Kube katcher" At the start of this game you are given thirty seconds to press one of the four random lights, upon pressing the light a new light will appear ... the goal is to acquire 100 percent accuracy.

* Press red to play "Multi-player madness" Up to six player can participate. The first player starts by pressing whichever random light flashes and then is asked to pass the kube to the next player. In a hot potato style, the player holding the cube when the buzzer sounds is eliminated ... game ends when only one player remains.

* Press orange to play "Kode kraker" This game is the most difficult as no lights are on. The player must find the predetermined kode by pressing the lights ... a buzzer will sound if the sequence pressed is in the wrong order.

Most will enjoy this attempt to revive the old legend that is known as Rubik's, but know that outside the name, there are very few similarities to the original klassik.

2 out of 5 stars problems begin 30 min after opening package   January 22, 2008

so i received this as a gift from my wife because I expressed an interest in rubiks cubes due in part from the Will Smith movie. btw since this is her account that I am writing the review on, I really love it baby girl ..so anyways, she will agree, after opening it and giving it a chance and playing with it off and on for about 20 something minutes, the sound became increasingly distorted and then all of the electronics shut down... ok so perhaps the batteries were exhausted from their tremendous voyage from WingSong chinese rubiks revolution cube plant, so we exchanged the batteries for new ones and presto, the thing works again.. for about 20 more minutes and then the same effect. Not sure if there is a commonality between all rubiks revolution cubes because from the look of preceeding reviews, my fake rubics cube might have seen alot more play then others as they seem to be thrown away, smashed, regifted, etc... very quickly. On the contrary, it is quite possible that Mr. Immitation Rubics Cube inspector was sleeping during final testing of my revolution puzzle cube, but regardless, it does have some functional issues so please be aware of the possibility that your artificial rubiks cube might also have the same condition. -j shanahan
