Amazon.com Review Why has no one jumped on this idea before? This combination French press coffeemaker and thermal carafe lets you make coffee quickly and easily: Just pour boiling water over freshly ground coffee, wait about three minutes, press the plunger, and serve. The thermal carafe keeps the coffee hot at the table in a convenient and stylish server. A locking lid keeps the heat in and spills to a minimum, and a little window lets you know how much coffee is left without opening the carafe. A snazzy idea. --Shannon Borg

French press thermos July 31, 2001 17 out of 17 found this review helpful
This product is not what you would hope for. It is made out of the type of plastic that chips. The glass and metal products often seen are much better. The capacity of the thermos is much too small and the price is too high for the quality of the product.I compared it to the Nissian product (stainless steel) and it was not in the same league.
It's Plastic! May 31, 2001 7 out of 7 found this review helpful
I'm sending it back immediately. No where in the description of the product did it say it was plastic, and I don't feel I should be charged for return postage.
a big mistake November 11, 2000 22 out of 24 found this review helpful
i tried this thermal coffee press - delighted to see it was 1/2 the price of other thermal coffee presses - but in this instant you get what you pay for 1) the coffee doesn't stay as hot as a regular thermos 2) when you press the grains down to the bottom they leak back up into the thermos and your last cup of coffee looks and taste like mud 3) its these times that you wish you bought the item in the store because now i have to pack it back in its box and send it back!
As advertised...which hits the mark July 17, 2000 18 out of 20 found this review helpful
I have to admit that I'm in love with my nice big glass Bodum french press. However, after taking it to work with me for my coffee needs there I had two difficulties. First, I didn't have my beloved french press at home! Second, at work I tend to drink coffee on a somewhat leisurely schedule, and my coffee at the end of the morning simply wasn't the same as at the beginning. Enter Amazon and this wonderful little contraption from European Gift & Houseware. I have to admit that I was not expecting much from this press, given that it comes in molded plastic rather than in the glorious glass of my Bodum. However, it does exactly what it purports to do: it produces wonderfully dark coffee (as most french presses) while keeping it warm for extended periods of time. I typically find that my coffee will hold well for at least two hours in this press. The only complaint I have, aside from the aesthetic shortcomings of plastic rather than glass, is that for my taste it makes a somewhat smaller amount of coffee than my other coffee makers. Other than this minor issue, I could not be much happier with the outcome of my impulse purchase!
