Product Description Mi Amore French Presses produce an exceptionally fullbodied flavor that is far superior to the traditional drip or perk methods. The reusable metal filter eliminates the need for costly paper filters while trapping the smallest coffee grounds. Mi Amore makes coffee and tea a romantic experience in our beautiful 8 cup French Press

So we all know french presses makes coffee to savor like no other...And that glass decanters are notoriously breakable with just the slightest accidental tap against the faucet when cleaning. And that 8 cups really means 2 jumbo cups, or 3 large cups, or even 4 smallish cups of coffee, and that the 3-cup models typically offered by other manufacturers makes ONE large cup-o-joe. And by now we (hopefully) all have a stainless steel insulated press that is non-breakable, keeps the coffee hot for a half hour or so (I LOVE my Frieling! Bodum makes one too- I got the Bodum 1st & exchanged it for the Euro-made Frieling). And we've learned that when the directions say brew for 3-4 minutes, they really mean it- wait any longer before plunging, and your coffee will taste bitter. And, I like to have a few extra presses around, just to mix it up, sometimes it's nice to have a clear glass french press on the table. So having covered the basics, I'll try to tell you a little about this Norpro very chic/boutique french press to help you decide. 1st, it's absolutely gorgeous! It has sort of a 'floating' appearance, like the glass is suspended mid-air with lovely stainless steel circling the decanter. The base is composed of 4 stainless steel small feet 'balls', which rest on the table top. The feet, wire wrapping, and handle are soldered on, and it looks like these probably won't last a lifetime- like any of the connections where soldered could break if handled too roughly. 2nd, the price is great- 1/3 to 1/2 the cost of the competition. I ordered this in both the 8 cup & the 4 cup sizes. Both just beautiful! The nice thing about the 4 cup, as compared to other manufacturer's 3 cup models, is that it really is a notably larger capacity carafe- you might even be able to get 2 smallish cups of coffee from it- Or, as I do, just one really giant cup! 3rd, the decanters seem a little heavier & more substantial vs. the delicate glass of the Bodum family. The 8 cup model decanter is 'Pyrex', and the 4 cup model is labeled 'Schott'. Packaging was solid and attractive- sort of plain brown cardboard box, with a simple elegance (packed in a larger box w/ peanuts for safety during delivery). These are great for my table, and I also picked up a few extra to give as gifts. One thing to note, though- this is from a 3rd party, so there IS a charge for S&H- it's not too bad, but it will add to your cost, and if you want to get one, I do suggest getting both the 8 cup & 4 cup (+ the pretty matching coffee cups, if you like), plus some to give as gifts. That way, you save money by having everything grouped into one shipment, vs. getting one 1st, then another because you want the other size too, then a 3rd order because you realize these are really nice to give as gifts! 4) Either plain glass sugar & creamers, or stainless steel, or combo sugar/creamer sets, will match perfectly & make a beautiful table/coffee table setting! I would suggest to get some clear glass mugs if you don't have any, to match the clear glass decanter. Lastly, remember to grind coffee beans fresh, keep them in the freezer (either whole or ground in an airtight container for maximum freshness), use water straight off of boiling (I use an electric teapot/water boiler for this- ~$10 Procter-Silex), stir with a wooden spoon after pouring hot water on the grounds (or use anything that won't break the glass filled with boiling hot water), place the french press top on to retain heat, and plunge after 3-4 minutes. Enjoy!
