Amazon.com Review Equipped with hard burrs that grind beans more uniformly and without the flavor-destroying heat generated by blade grinders, this coffee mill makes preparing fresh coffee simple. It has preprogrammed buttons for grinding enough to brew 4, 8, 10, or 12 cups and a dial for selecting one of 18 grind consistencies, from very coarse to very fine for espresso. The bean chamber holds 8 ounces, enough for about 36 five-ounce cups. When the selected amount of beans is ground, the mill shuts off automatically. A transparent plastic container snaps into the mill's front to catch up to 8 ounces of ground coffee. It has a snap-on lid so it can store either ground coffee or beans. For easy cleaning, the grinding wheel twists out. The 120-watt mill measures 5 inches wide, 9 inches high, and 6-1/2 inches deep. It's clad in hard, bright plastic, has push-in cord storage, and carries a one-year warranty against defects. --Fred Brack

Thank R. Johnson -- Wherever You Are Re: Melitta Mill Adjustmt July 4, 2008 DocKC I was given this Melitta Mill by a friend who only used a few times, as the grind was too coarse. I tried it, and it did, indeed, seem coarser than I desired. Since there was no manual with the coffee mill, I searched the Web, and ended up with R. Johnson's 2005 feedback. I followed his suggested adjustments, and--voila--the grind is now fine and the machine works just great, definitely better than my blade grinder and a lot less than other burr and cone grinders. At the listed price, this is a pretty good deal, even if not as good as mine. Again, thank you R. Johnson of Illinois, wherever you are!
My first grinder April 13, 2008 Cynthia Atkinson (Philadelphia, PA) I've had this burr grinder for over two years now. I was very happy with it for a while, but it soon didn't grind evenly no matter what setting you used. And I soon found out I had to use twice as much coffee bean to make the perfect pot. I had difficulty removing the burr so my husband took the thing apart for me, and we found about a pound of coarsley unevenly ground coffee stuck in the back of the machine! What a waste! We have had unscrew and empty that wasted coffee twice so far. I am looking for a new grinder.
Don't waste your money April 4, 2008 D. Wadsworth (Fort Worth, TX) I bought a Melitta burr coffee mill at a kitchen outlet for apparently the regular retail price of about $25. It lasted about a month. The grinding was just ok but it did tend to clog up. I think it put too much stress on the motor to do espresso grinds. Anyway, not an issue now since the motor didn't hold up at all. I am now going to go ahead and buy something that costs more but that I can depend on to last.
It's all true February 20, 2008 Art Van der Ley (professor) (CA, USA) everyhting they say about this POS is true. I have two here, if anyone wants one. They don't even make a good paperweight.
Works Great ! February 8, 2008 KodeLL (United States Of America) This, so far, is working out fine. Does what it says it does. Dependable. I have used it for 9 months now.
