Very good product January 1, 2008 Michael N. Rhoads (Livonia, MI USA) I have been roasting for a year now. My roaster does 8 oz at a time and they came in 8 oz bags which was very good. This assortment is a great way to sample different green coffees. Also one of the reasons you want to get green beans is that they will last about 3 years. Sweet Marias is a excellent site to learn about green coffee and roasting. Do a search on the internet for green coffee and you will find many sites.
economical place to start home roasting December 20, 2007 sean dreilinger (san francisco, ca, us) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
i ordered this sampler of green coffee when i wanted to start roasting coffee at home. it was the most economical option to obtain some green coffee beans to experiment with, knowing that some or all of it might be ruined. i charred one bag, under-roasted one bag, and managed to produce palatable coffee and espresso from the other four bags. the roasting process is a huge variable that affects the quality of the consumable end product, regardless of the quality of the green beans. i've since roasted many more times, using different coffee varieties and different lots of green beans from a handful of vendors. i recommend this coffee bean direct sampler as a gift to anybody who wants an easy and inexpensive supply of green beans to try out home roasting.
For all coffee, shop locally. October 28, 2007 Titanium Tim (Northern California) 6 out of 9 found this review helpful
I am new to home roasting but learning fast. Bottom line-if you want fresh green beans, purchase them from a reputable, local, small company. If you live on the west coast of the U.S., I recommend the highly acclaimed "Sweet Marias". A quick trip to their site will explain all. CBD on the other hand is a typical "large" supplier as the product shows. I roasted all of the beans that I got from CBD and drank most but was generally disappointed. A dark roast hides some problems but I am really glad to be done with CBD's inferior product.
