Product Description There's more to going to the movies than seeing the movie itself - it's the popcorn! Now, with the Whirley Pop Popcorn Maker, you can make fluffy, delicious popcorn just like you get at the theater. The stay-cool hardwood handle turns the stainless steel paddle inside, preventing scorching and burning, and making certain every kernel pops up like it should. The steam vents on top allow moisture to escape so the popcorn is always light and tender. Much quicker than microwaving, the popper makes up to 6 quarts and comes with a 25 year warranty. Also included with the popper is 1 popcorn packets (each one making up to 6 quarts) and "secret ingredient" flavoring packets that give the popcorn that movie-popcorn taste. The popper also comes with a recipe book for more popcorn flavor ideas.Pan is made of aluminum and the lid is made of stainless steel and aluminum.
Amazon.com Review Face it, sometimes the best thing about going out to a movie is the popcorn, those big plump kernels that always seem so much better than what you pop at home. But this simple stovetop popper changes all that. It really does make awesome, fresh-popped corn that might make you start renting videos instead. The sturdy aluminum pan has a clip-on lid with a stay-cool wooden handle. A turn crank on the handle spins the key element: the stainless steel stirring system that keeps the corn moving across the bottom of the pan, for even heat and oil distribution, ensuring the best popping results. The lid has steam vents, to help keep the popcorn dry and crisp. The enclosed booklet is a wonderful resource, with not only clear and detailed instructions, but also dozens of recipes and popcorn history and lore. These are folks who really do know their popcorn, and the results are outstanding. --Cynthia Nims

When I moved to Italy, I brought this with me! August 19, 2008 Diane E. Beck (Between Rome and Naples, Italy) When I moved to Italy last year I packed this carefully as I knew I'd never find one over here. It simply makes GREAT popcorn! I use a little olive oil and even the generic popcorn I find in the local store comes out great! We eat popcorn a few times a week. Now I have a friend that wants one, so I'm ordering it for my brother-in-law to bring over in his luggage when he visits for New Year's. It makes even mediocre corn taste great...so much easier than shaking a pan, and much tastier than air-popped. One of the reviews said the top has a 25-year guarantee. I don't know about that, but just treat it gently and you shouldn't have any problems.
Great popcorn popper! August 7, 2008 Aaron And Debra Bell (Ohio) I was a little concerned when I first tried this model as we usually use very small kerneled popcorn, but it still seemed to pop it fine. Very easy to use...just wipe it out with a paper towel when done!
whirley-pop July 26, 2008 normajean (Phoenix, AZ USA) this is a great popper. The first one we had got damaged when the burner was left on and we have been looking everywhere to get another one. Every corn pops! It works exactly as it says it does. Simple and fun.
5 star ratings are false July 21, 2008 Engineer 0 out of 4 found this review helpful
The 5 star ratings this device has received are either lies or given by people who never actually make popcorn. This item is faulty. If you use it to make popcorn it will fail. The first time you use this poper you will notice there is no way to get the popcorn out without spilling, or burning. The lid flaps, which in other models open to allow the corn to be dispensed, are clipped shut in order to make up for the poorly designed latches. The Lid does not securely latch to the pot. This small detail will cause your steaming hot pot of popcorn to broadcast itself all over your stove top, the hot burner, and you if you try using the handle to dispense the poped corn. The plastic gears will work for a couple of months. Then the mixing shaft will begin spinning in the top bevel gear causing you to wonder why there is so much smoke. Please do not give this product as a gift. Not even a gag gift - it's not funny.
Movie Theater Popcorn in MY Kitchen! July 19, 2008 Bree (NJ) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Whirley-Pop Stovetop Popcorn Popper I received my Whirley Popper last week, tried it out today, and I am VERY happy. The popcorn tastes just like it does at the movie theater or a carnival. The corn is light, fluffy, and crispy in contrast to the bagged microwave corn which is much less crunchy and stale-tasting, in my opinion. It is very easy to use and I only had a couple of kernels that were un-popped. Be sure to follow the directions EXACTLY which includes seasoning the Whirley Popper prior to first use and using a MEDIUM flame, not high. Yes, the popper does feel rather light but then again, popcorn making does not require heavy-duty machinery. Do I get a little worried that the crank my break? At times yes, but as long as I'm careful it should be fine. Also Wabash Valley Farms has great customer service so I will not hesitate calling them with any problems. As for the popcorn sent with the popper (which has no bearing on my rating) I thought it was pretty good, but a bit too salty for my family's taste. My advice is to use only half of the seasoning provided if you intend on using Wabash Valley Farm brand. I am sure any brand of fresh popcorn kernels will do so there is no need to experiment with any expensive fancy-shmancy brands - unless you'd like to .... again so long as the corn is fresh it should come out great. Moreover if the popper is going to be used at least once or twice a week, there really is no need to wash it because you remove the seasoning as well; just wipe it out with a wet cloth. The booklet included with the popper comes with a few interesting recipes that I want to try out including the kettle corn. UPDATE: Well I've had my Whirley Pop for a few weeks now and have used it almost two dozen times and I love it. My popcorn nor the popper have gotten burnt. I just ordered one for my sister and this will also be one of my mother's Christmas gifts. Case (24) of 4 Ounce Great American Popcorn Portion Packs
