Product Description The perfect size for two to three servings, this 2-quart covered saute pan is also great for stirring up a roux for sauce or gumbo, or for browning onions or mushrooms to add to a casserole. Ideal for four to six servings, this 3-quart pan is great for dishes that start on the stovetop and finish cooking in the oven, and the helper handle facilitates lifting when it's full. Also ideal for glazing carrots or quick-cooking cutlets. Large enough for family cooking or entertaining, the 6-quart pan is ideal for shallow braising, sauteing squash, cooking Italian sausage and peppers, or making your favorite chicken-and-rice dish brown the poultry, then add other ingredients and cover to finish cooking on the stove or in the oven.
All-Clad's MC2 Nonstick combines the industrial style of a shimmering brushed aluminum exterior with the convenience of a durable nonstick cooking surface. A triple-layer core of pure aluminum extends across the bottom and up the sides for unsurpassed heat conductivity with no hot spots. The brushed finish can handle everyday wear and tear and still look great. The polished stainless steel lid forms a precision seal with the rolled lip of the pan, locking in heat, flavor, and nutrients. The long stick handle, secured by noncorrosive stainless steel rivets, stays cool during normal stovetop use. Oven safe to 500 degrees F. Dishwasher safe, but we recommend hand-washing with CHEFS Stainless Steel Cleaner to preserve the beauty of the finish. Made in the USA.
Amazon.com Review The second generation of All-Clad's Master Chef line (MC2), this cookware combines brushed aluminum with stainless-steel accents for a contemporary look. Like All-Clad's other renowned cookware collections, Master Chef provides serious and professional cooks with all the virtues that make All-Clad's worldwide reputation unsurpassed. Key to its high performance is a three-ply, bonded construction. Sandwiched between the brushed aluminum exterior and the interior lies a thick core of pure aluminum that spreads heat evenly across the bottoms of pots and pans and all the way up the sides. Certain pieces, like this one, have two interior layers, one of 18/10 stainless steel and the other of scratch-resistant, professional-grade nonstick bonded to the steel. This classic straight-sided 6-quart sauté pan illustrates the Master Chef line's stylish yet practical design. It's an imposing 13-1/2 inches in diameter (and 2-3/4 inches deep), large enough for a professional kitchen but fully functional in a home where big meals are prepared. Its polished 18/10 stainless-steel pan and lid handles are riveted for strength and grooved on the top for comfort. Like the pan's helper handle, the long handle (holed for hanging on a hook or peg) stays cool on the stovetop but won't be harmed by an oven's highest heat. Master Chef cookware carries a lifetime warranty against defects and should be hand washed. --Fred Brack

DO NOT PUT IN DISHWASHER November 20, 2008 Buck Minster (San Diego, CA) I have had this saute pan for about 5-years and it is one of my favorites because of convenient size and even heating. It has been the first pan I turn to when cooking anything larger than 2 qts. HOWEVER, putting it in the dishwasher voids the warranty. Despite my efforts to instill the "handwash only" mantra in family members, it inevitably ended up in the dishwasher a few times. Last week, MIL helped clean up...I pulled it our of the dishwasher and found that the non-stick coating was peeling from the rim. I tried to use it but ended up throwing out the dish because I found that little pieces of the non-stick coating had flaked off into the sauce. Although 5 years is a long time, it was not a very good value considering the high cost. If you have a dishwasher in your home, I recommend the All-Clad "Stainless" collection without non-stick surface (the only series All-Clad has that is dishwasher safe). If you need non-stick I recommend a cheapo like Anolon Titanium. Just because you handwash does not mean that well-meaning friends/family won't accidentally stick in your dishwasher and ruin it.
Not for induction August 1, 2008 KM (McLean, VA United States) I think Amazon has now corrected the descriptions, but I bought this thinking it was magnetized. I'm sure it's great if you're using any other sort of cooktop other than induction.
One of the most useful pans to own September 29, 2001 Kathleen Wilson Fivel (Boston, MA USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Great, solid pan. I use it almost everyday and couldn't be happier with it. Clean-up is a breeze with the non-stick interior. The handle truly does stay cool on the stovetop.
Essential cookware September 29, 2001 Kathleen Wilson Fivel (Boston, MA USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This is the first piece of cookware I received for a wedding present, and it's the one I turn to again and again. I can't praise this pan highly enough. The whole Master Chef line is fantastic.
