Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
Every kitchen should have at least a couple of skillets in different sizes for preparing eggs, fish, meat, and poultry. The benefits of non-stick include easy food release and clean up as well as requiring no extra fat for cooking.

Amazon.com Review
Crafted from a blend of materials, this 12-inch-diameter deep skillet from Farberware offers the excellent conductivity of aluminum with the convenience of a nonstick interior. The pan features highly polished 2-1/4-inch sides with a slight slope--great for cooking cornbread or frying meats. Oven-safe to 350 degrees F, the pan requires little oil during cooking, releases food with minimal sticking, and cleans up easily. Its comfortable phenolic handle is stoutly riveted, stays cool during stovetop use, and sports a hanging ring. Farberware recommends hand washing and the use of wooden, plastic, or nylon utensils to best preserve the skillet's interior. --Emily Bedard

5 out of 5 stars a great skillet!   July 2, 2008
MD (Iowa)
This is a great skillet for almost anything. It is deep, so it will handle lots of food. It is very good quality; the finish looks like it will last forever with proper care. I have cooked with it on fairly high heat with no problems. As some have said, it is not very thick on the bottom. However, I have not found any reason why it needs to be. I am completely satisfied with its performance. I use a ceramic cooktop, and this skillet works perfectly with it. The extra handle makes moving the "loaded" skillet easy. The long handle is not so long that it becomes a safety issue. It doesn't have a lid, but how often do you need a lid? The lid is available separately.Farberware Classic 12-Inch Nonstick Deep SkilletFarberware Classic 12-Inch Nonstick Deep Skillet

5 out of 5 stars Deep Skillet   March 25, 2008

I have been using this pan nearly everyday for over 8 months. I never imagined I would use it so much when I bought it but it has been great for everything. It is thick sturdy material and has not warped on me. I feel it is great quality. The non-stick surface has held up better than any other I have seen. I dont have a single scratch in it. I own mostly Farberware pots and pans some 15 years old. My parents have had theirs for over 40 years without even a cracked handle.

I purchased one of the 12-inch glass lids and really like it too. I think one or the other may be slightly out of shape because sometimes I have to shift the lid slightly to get it to fit. But this only happens on occasion.

5 out of 5 stars Great for making spaghetti sauce   May 26, 2007
Twilightjoan (Peck, ID USA)
I bought this pan in 2005 but didn't start using it until early this year when the pan I used for making home made spaghetti sauce started peeling. I had to use a glass lid that didn't really fit this pan well but the one that Amazon was selling never shipped and now they don't sell it any more. I have been reading some of the reviews and people say the pan warps and that the non-stick peeled and bubbled (a Kids Review) but I have not found that. No manufacturer of non-stick pans ever recommends using high heat -- always low or medium at most. It is best to use nylon or the new silicon tools to keep the surface in good condition. I find that nearly any non-stick pan starts to stick when the surface is scratched and starts to show cuts down to the metal.

By the way -- I found a good lid for it Farberware 12-Inch Stainless Steel Lid

3 out of 5 stars too heavy and expensive   May 13, 2007

Too heavy and expensive for a 12-inch skillet. Week after i bought this nonstick skillet online i saw a similar skillet for just $11.99 at Walgreens.

5 out of 5 stars Great Skillet   May 12, 2007

This is not the cheapest skillet out there, but has proven to be well worth the money. It sits flat on the stove burner (no wobble like cheaper models) and is heavy and durable. The extra handle comes in handy when needing to empty heavier contents like pasta or chinese style vegies. Because the skillet is thick, it takes a little while to heat up, but once it reaches the desired temperature it holds it very well. I've used it for all types of recipes so far and it consistently cooks evenly and cleans very easily. If you are looking for a well made, durable skillet, you won't go wrong with this one.
