Practically Perfect In Every Way April 27, 2008 dbphoenix (Phoenix, AZ United States) I love this roaster. It's exactly the right size for both roasting (it's perfect for two large chickens) and for lasagna (three-layers), clean-up couldn't be easier or faster, and it's sturdy without being unnecessarily heavy (you don't need tri-ply for oven roasting). The handles are more upright than angled out so it doesn't require a lot of extra space sideways in the oven. And the rack is flat (though raised slightly off the floor of the pan), so you don't get that mooshed look with roasts and turkeys that are roasted in those V-shaped racks. The handles on the rack may take some getting used to since they are on the long side rather than the short side. But unless whatever is on the rack is way off-kilter, there should be no problems lifting the rack out of the pan and keeping everything balanced (and the handles are 5" wide, a third of the length of the rack, so, again, balancing should not be an issue). Chicago Metallic makes a nearly identical pan that has the rack handles on the same sides as the pan handles, but I suspect that trying to lift the pan out of the oven by the pan handles without getting tangled up in the rack handles as well might pose a problem. Lifting the Calphalon pan out of the oven is no problem at all. Comparing pans is more difficult than it needs to be since the ads are rarely specific about pan dimentions vs overall dimensions. This can be a problem if one has one of those tiny ovens commonly found in apartments. This pan, ignoring the handles, is 12"x16". With the handles, the length becomes 18 3/4". The depth of the pan without the rack is 3", making it an excellent lasagna pan (unless you particularly want a 4" pan). With the rack and its handles, it's 4 1/2". I've been streamlining my kitchen over the past few years, getting rid of anything that has only one function. This pan is a real multi-tasker. In addition to roasting and lasagna, I see no reason why it can't be used for a cake pan (just increase your usual 9x13 recipe accordingly) or baking pan (mini-loaves, oversized sweet rolls). Unfortunately, the pan seems to be unavailable now from Amazon, but if you can find it elsewhere, get it. You'll love it.
good roaster February 17, 2008 D. Edwards (northern, minnesota) so far I have no complaints with my roaster. It cleans up well, very sturdy. It is on the heavy side, but not enough to not use. I would buy this again, good value for the money.
Good for the price January 30, 2008 Rhino64 Used this the other day for the first time. Very easy clean-up. Not the quality I expected from Calphalon. Add says hard anodized, not quite, outside is, but the inside is coated with a non-stick coating. I got the impression from the add the entire pan was hard anodized. However it's a good roasting pan and worth the money IMO.

Great Roaster January 7, 2008 Sheila Bullock (Chicago, IL) I love this pan. I made my Thanksgiving turkey in this pan and what I love most is the rack. You can lift the bird right out of the pan without a problem. It heats up good and nothing sticks.
