Amazon.com Review
From KitchenAid's Gourmet Essentials line comes this cookware set made of hard-anodized aluminum. Durable, handsomely finished in matte charcoal gray, and known for its exceptional heat distribution and retention properties, hard-anodized cookware is a very popular choice for the home chef. KitchenAid embellishes these pots with stainless-steel handles, riveted for strength and wrapped with cushy, stay-cool silicone grips. The lids, made of break-resistant glass for optimum viewing, also feature silicone-wrapped handles, highly arched to enable easy grasping with a potholder or oven mitt. Both the pans and lids are oven-safe up to 400 degrees F.

An excellent value, this 12-piece set consists of the most frequently used kitchen pots and pans and makes a great gift set. The two skillets, measuring 8 and 10 inches in diameter, handle everyday frying and sautéing needs, from eggs-over-easy to grilled cheese sandwiches to fish filets, then crepes for dessert. Three saucepans holding 1, 2, and 3 quarts let you boil a single egg, heat soup, and slow-cook a creamy risotto with wild mushrooms. The large 8-quart stockpot with two loop handles works admirably for family-sized batches of pasta, chili, soup, and corn-on-the-cob. Finally, the 12-inch covered sauté pan with its helper handle tackles generous quantities of fried chicken, braised meats, stir-fries, and poached salmon. The nonstick finish releases food quickly and makes clean up by hand a snap. It's best to keep the nonstick cookware out of the dishwasher. KitchenAid covers the set with a one-year, hassle-free replacement warranty. --Ann Bieri

5 out of 5 stars Excellent Cookware   July 19, 2010
love4janeausten (Ohio, USA)
This set is the perfect all around set. It has everything you would need for everyday cooking.
The most important thing to remember is they should not be washed in the dishwasher.
That doesn't mean you can't wash them in the dishwasher, but the outside will turn an ugly white color!
The pans are the perfect size and the large covered fry pan is perfect for fried chicken!
I would recommend this set to anyone

5 out of 5 stars Very Happy   June 24, 2010
Michael (Albuquerque, NM USA)
I got this set through amazon about 3 months ago, I've been very happy with them so far. Easy to clean and the non-stick is still working great 3 months into it. were a family of 4 so i would say they get about average use from a family our size. we use them atleast 6 days a week( we try not to eat out much). The handles are great not once have they been hot.

5 out of 5 stars KitchenAid Gourmet Essentials 12 pc. cookware set   June 18, 2010

The quality of the pans are great, clean up is very easy. The Amazon price was way lower than Kohl's sale price and delivery was free and fast.

4 out of 5 stars Worth the price.. love it   June 16, 2010
V. Sirivella (Mclean, VA USA)
I had been using this set for the past 3 months.. I just love it... the non stick works great. Cleaning is easy & the lids are heat proof. I cooked biryani (chicken & veg) twice in the 6 qt cookpot & it came out pretty well. I am not quite sure what the life of this set would be but I am hoping it would last 2 yrs. Keeping my fingers crossed.
The reason I gave it 4 stars & not five:
1. I want to see how long these can last
2. The pans bottoms are discolored after couple of uses & they wont go off with scrubbing. It does not damage the coating or anything it just does not look good.
All is all - a good set for the money spent.

1 out of 5 stars NOT Dishwasher Safe   June 13, 2010

You would think based on KitchenAid reputation and the cost of this set it would be hands down an excellent set for most any kitchen. Unfortunately, and not until you have read all the fine print, would you discover the set is NOT dishwasher safe and as such unacceptable to be returned after having made the assumption and had already ran them through a couple of cycles to learn they now cannot be returned. It is ashame to later learn that lesser known makers of a similar sets of cookware, costing half as much, IS dishwasher safe. Lessons learned for when the handles degrade and fall off this product that we thought was a premier set of cookware. Buyer Beware. Read very carefully. The devil is in the details.
