cracked handles April 20, 2008 Daniela For the price I paid I gues cannot expect great quality, but then someone should tell you so you can choose if you still want to pay it even though handles come crakced. They are nice looking though...
Not Cuisinart's Best April 16, 2008 Jillian M. (Indiana) I purchased this set thinking that Cuisinart had improved the quality since there were so many reviews on the cracked handles...of course they hadn't. 13 of my knives were cracked, that's over half the set! I called Cuisinart and they directed me to another company that handles their cutlery (phone number for those with the same problem is 1-800-252-3390). After waiting on hold and being bounced around for an hour, I finally spoke to a representative that told me that the set was discontinued and offered me either the KitchenAid red set or a black or stainless steel Cuisinart set. The actual blades and weight on this set are great, but I would pass on this product and just purchase another brand or the stainless steel set and save yourself a lot of time on the phone.
Great Knives! Company is aware of problems and will replace broken sets. March 24, 2008 M. S. Williams These knives are great for the price--the blades are sharp and fairly substantial. I use them on a daily basis, and with regular honing, they keep a really nice sharp edge. They won't compare to really high-end knives, I'm sure, but for the casual cook they're perfect. When I got them for Christmas, I noticed (as have many other reviewers) that several of the handles were cracked at the rivets. I emailed Cuisinart to see if I could get them replaced. They gave me the number to Lifetime Brands who handles their cutlery line (1-800-252-3390). I called them, and found that they were aware of the problem and have stopped making the red knives because of it. They sent me a new set of great looking stainless steel handled knives. They warned that it would take a couple of months, and at exactly two months, I received the new knives. (I didn't mind using the cracked handles for a little while longer.) I'm very happy with both the knives and the great customer service I received.
these will do February 23, 2008 jenn (Acworth, GA) Certainly not the best knives on the market, but for the price point they are very good. This would be a nice starter set. They keep a good cutting adge and look stylish on the counter. As your income and kitchen savvy increase you can invest in higher quality, but these will do the job.
Hand wash and towel dry or they rust February 8, 2008 Danyal Womer (Hamilton, Ohio USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I ordered these knives to treat myself because I deserve to have nice things. At first I was tickled with them they are eye catching and they are very sharp, They are the sharpest knives I have ever owned I sliced tomatoes so thin it looked like they came out of a slicer. I have been hand washing them right after I use them ( I have had them less than a month)and putting them back in there block for safe keeping. I have noticed that the steak knives have got rust spots on them, even if I leave them out to air dry before replacing them into their block they get rust spots, I tried scrubbing the rust off with a sos pad and it only scratched up my knife blade. These Knives have to be hand washed and towel dryed or they will rust. If they did not rust I would have rated them 4 stars however they did rust and I think that for as much as I paid for them ( 75.00 with shipping) they should not be rusting, I will probobly have to replace them in a year because it is a pain to wash and dry them as quickly as they seem to require so they don't rust. :-( I'm sad because I wanted to treat myself to something nice and I thought since they were expensive ( to me ) that they would last me forever and clearly they will not.
