The 5-qt. Artisan Series Stand Mixer is KitchenAid's latest accomplishment, now available in a radiant tangerine. In comparison to their previous 4.5-qt., this one is larger in capacity and combines a 325-watt motor with a heavy duty transmission that supplies constant power even when mixing heavy bread dough. Convenient, the polished stainless steel bowl is sized to hold large batches and recipes, and with its wide open design, accommodates the beater from the tilt-back head once it's lowered into the bowl. The handle on the bowl is ergonomically designed, contoured to fit the hand, facilitating lifting and pouring. Like the other models, this one, too, features KitchenAid's unique mixing action - the beater moves clockwise while the shaft moves counterclockwise, enabling the beater to reach every area as it mixes. It features 10 speeds from a very high to a very low stir.Included with your new stand mixer is a clear, two-piece pouring shield that fits around the top of the bowl, preventing splashes. A large chute lets you add ingredients along the way. Accessories include a Wire Whip, Flat Beater and Dough Hook for versatility. The rugged, durable, all-metal construction promises many years of dependability, quiet operation, and cooking and baking bliss.

I have always wanted a kitchen aid mixer, but thought they were
expensive. After careful consideration, and research, the Artisan mixer was what I wanted, and Amazon.com had the best price ANYWHERE! I was thrilled with the mixer, and feel it was money well spent.

After using cheap hand mixers for years I finally decided to get off the wallet and buy something that would last more than a couple of years and at the same time make life in the kitchen a lot easier. I've had my eye on a KitchenAid mixer to complement the kitchen in my new home for almost 2 years now. I finally said enough is enough and bought the Onyx Black, Artisan Series 5-Quart Mixer.
Immediately, chocolate chip cookies were not only easier to make, but tasted better. Ditto for a few of the bread recipes I've tried in the past. Great mashed potatos followed by a killer Belgian waffle batter were next and I continue to look for recipes of foods I never dared try in the past.
This mixer has the guts and power that make any recipe a snap. I don't think there is a chore out there that this mixer couldn't stand up to. One thing that surprised me was how quiet this mixer is even when running on the higher settings.
Cleanup is easy too. A quick wipe down with a damp towel is all that's needed. The attatchments and 5 quart bowl are dishwasher safe if you don't feel like cleaning by hand.
As stated in other reviews, this KitchenAid is no lightweight at 20+ pounds so find a permanent spot for it in a prominent area of your kitchen. In my case, the island in the middle of the kitchen was a no brainer and brings instant compliments when company arrives.
For those who are considering buying a stand mixer, there is no other choice. Buy the KitchenAid and you can't go wrong.

I finally got my wife one of these mixers that she's been asking for. But the problem is, is that I don't know who uses it more! This mixer is absolutely wonderful. If I had to choose between a coffee maker and this mixer, the coffee maker would be on it's way out. From pizza dough to cookies, cakes to ice cream, this thing does it all! I think every kitchen should have one of these. They are a little pricey but completely worth it!

I grew up in a house with one of these and don't know how to bake without one. So I bought this one for my new apartment and it's just as good. It's sturdy and will hopefully last decades.
