Really Great Little Pan at a Great Price! January 7, 2008 Papa B (MD) Bought this for myself & now for all my kids. Can't beat the price & the quality is superb!!
Great for a quick sauce. November 29, 2007 msredhd (Orange County, CA) 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
Yes, it is a little "tippy" as others have said. But it has a great handle that never gets hot. And fortunately I have a special simmer burner (with a smaller opening) so it balances just fine. Make a great roux. Great value. I am happy with everything I have bought from this collection!
Tends to tip over November 28, 2007 Saba (Massachusetts) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I bought this saucier because of the price and am now sure I will have to replace it because it tends to tip over frequently. The handle is simply too heavy for the weight of the base and it is always tipping over, even when filled. I don't want to end up with scalding sauces all over me or make a huge mess on my stovetop, so I will be looking for a replacement soon.
Way too handle-heavy October 19, 2007 R. Matthews 3 out of 5 found this review helpful
I like the size of this pan and the pouring spout, but it is not well-balanced. Even on a flat countertop, the pan is too handle-heavy and will tip over. On the grates of my gas stove, I'm not even sure I'm going to be able to use it; empty it completely tips over and since the plan had been to use it to reduce small quanities of sauces, I'm assuming it will tip unless it's pretty much filled. Bummer.
I Actually Own it and I Like it! August 1, 2007 Charles Cromer (The Old Dominion) 9 out of 9 found this review helpful
I have to disagree with almost everyone reviewing this one. The balance is a bit "tippy" but Not overbalanced when EMPTY because of the small bottom area contacting the burner. This same quality allows the the pan to heat quickly on very low heat and it heats evenly and cooks beautifully. It also pours without dripping and works well as a small chef's pan. I use it to reduce, saute, and even stir-fry in small amounts. The lid from the I.5 qt. saucepan fits exactly. This ability to interchange covers is a benefit many Cuisinart Chef's Classic pieces share. Regarding handle proportion; Cuisinart Chef's Classic handles are individually sized to match and balance proportionately the individual pans better than ANY brand I have seen. This includes the vaunted and, in my opinion, highly overated / overpriced All-Clad which I do own! I usually cook for one and in smaller proportions so this pan is a perfect size. It is difficult to find good cookware in smaller sizes. Also, some points about this and all stainless cookware and the numerous complaints about sticking, burning and problematic cleaning I read on Amazon; Turn down the heat ( You don't need it! ), throw away that worthless and totally inappropriate steel wool and use Barkeeper's Friend or Bon Ami just like the instructions and all those smart folks keep telling Us. Lastly...How can Anyone rate a product and denigrate the design of same when they do not own it and have not used it and conversly, how can anyone find such a review helpful ?
