Product Description 10 1/4" Round skillet grill / Enameled cast iron / Dishwasher safe / Red
Amazon.com Review With a grill pattern of raised ribs in the bottom, this heavy, 10-inch round skillet grill sears tasty, appetizing grill marks into steaks, burgers, fish, sandwiches, and other foods that benefit from stovetop grilling and the caramelized flavor grill marks impart. The ribs also elevate food so fat collects between them, allowing for low-calorie cooking (spouts on both sides of the skillet permit the fat to pour off). Because cast iron is unexcelled at retaining heat and distributing it evenly--no hot spots--foods will cook uniformly in the skillet. Enameled outside with a bright, smooth surface and inside with a black-satin-texture finish that doesn't need seasoning, this durable skillet goes onto any stovetop, in the oven, or under a broiler. It's also stylish enough to bring to table. Though it's dishwasher-safe, hand washing preserves the patina that builds up with use and aids in the skillet's stick-resistance. Like all Le Creuset cast-iron cookware, the skillet is made in France using a one-of-a-kind mold that ensures each piece's uniqueness and carries a lifetime warranty against defects. --Fred Brack

Better than the old black pan January 23, 2003 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Though pricier than your usual cast iron skillet, this one has some really nice extra features. There's the tab across from the handle for a little help lifting the thing, and the pour spouts on the side. The grill marks make it a pretty specific pan though, maybe not so good for anything but meat and veggies. Excellent for searing steak on the stove and finishing in the oven. But sometimes it's nice to bake a tart or bread in the skillet, so don't toss the flat-bottomed one. Take the extra 30 seconds to handwash and dry cookware like this, you'll save its life and lots of dishwasher space. All in all, the pan is really functional and a lot more attractive than a plastic tabletop electric grill. I like the different colors in pans because I can just grab the one I want quickly--no monochrome in my kitchen.
