Amazon.com Review From KitchenAid's Gourmet Essentials line comes this cookware set made of hard-anodized aluminum. Durable, handsomely finished in matte charcoal gray, and known for its exceptional heat distribution and retention properties, hard-anodized cookware is a very popular choice for the home chef. KitchenAid embellishes these pots with stainless-steel handles, riveted for strength and wrapped with cushy, stay-cool silicone grips. The lids, made of break-resistant glass for optimum viewing, also feature silicone-wrapped handles, highly arched to enable easy grasping with a potholder or oven mitt. Both the pans and lids are oven-safe up to 400 degrees F. An excellent value, this 10-piece set consists of the most frequently used kitchen pots and pans and makes a great gift set. The two skillets, measuring 8 and 10 inches in diameter, handle everyday frying and sautéing needs, from eggs-over-easy to grilled cheese sandwiches to fish filets, then crepes for dessert. Three saucepans holding 1, 2, and 3 quarts let you boil a single egg, heat soup, and slow-cook a creamy risotto with wild mushrooms. The larger 6-quart stockpot with two loop handles works admirably for family-sized batches of pasta, chili, soup, and corn-on-the-cob. The nonstick finish releases food quickly and makes clean up by hand a snap. It's best to keep the nonstick cookware out of the dishwasher. KitchenAid covers the set with a one-year, hassle-free replacement warranty. --Ann Bieri What's in the Box 10-piece cookware set. The set consists of: 1-quart covered saucepan; 2-quart covered saucepan; 3-quart covered saucepan; 6-quart covered stockpot; 8-inch skillet; 10-inch skillet. 10 pieces total.
Product Description Whether you're starting up or starting over, the KitchenAid Hard-Anodized 10-pc. Cookset is the perfect kitchen staple. This metal pot and pan set features hard-base ceramic, nonstick interiors for outstanding food release, durability and scratch resistance and heavy-duty, break-resistant glass lids that sit firmly on the pots and pans. Each piece also features cool grip handles that provide a safe grip.

GREAT value for the money! July 24, 2008 E. Gumbs (Maryland) I have used several different types of cookware in the past--most recently I was using a combination of stainless steel and coated stainless steel (Teflon on the skillets only) made by Oneida. I didn't have any major gripes with my Oneida cookware, other than the fact that the Teflon was peeling after 5 years of regular use, but I really wanted a set of cookware that had more balanced weight and "felt" like better quality. Quite frankly, however, I can't afford the $1,500 set that I really want! I was on a strict budget of $125 for this purchase, and this set kept me below budget. I purchased the set from Amazon about 2 months ago, and I absolutely love it. The pots and pans are not to heavy, but heavy enough to feel like you won't throw them over your shoulder by accident when you pick them up quickly. The weight is balanced throughout, and I don't get that "it's so heavy that I can't lift it" feeling that I get with the one Le Cruset pan that I bought at a fire sale. I like the way everything cooks in the pan, and I've found that as long as I keep the heat a little lower than I did with my stainless steel pans, I could potentially simmer for hours without so much as browning the contents in the pan. I love these pans. I felt like I got mostly everything that I needed in the 10-piece set. My only gripe is that the 8" and 10" skillets are just too small for most of my meals that require a skillet. I'm keeping my eye on the 12" KitchenAid skillet here on Amazon because I think that the 12" skillet would complete my set. I highly recommend this set--it is a great deal for the price.
"Drive by" review July 4, 2008 DeafeningWhisper (Chicago-ish) 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
I don't know much at all about pots & pans, but I just wanted to mention a couple of things which may not have been mentioned before (I think it's kind of useless to read the same redundant feedback over and over and, well.. you get my point. We're all busy people, so in an effort to add something new, I bring you this mini-review! (sorry for the digression and cheap poetry. just can't help myself sometimes) 1. These pots/pans are of thinner construction than I was expecting. For example, I've got some Calphalon Kitchen Essentials pans from Target and these KitchenAid Gourmet Essentials are less thick or dense than those from that Calphalon hard-anodized collection. Is this a problem? I don't know. These KitchenAid pots/pans seem more prone to getting bent out of shape or warped, but I don't really know if this should be a practical concern or not. Time will tell. On the other hand, being of thinner construction, they are probably a little lighter, so they could be a plus for some users. 2. This set is currently stocked in Kohls dept. stores, so if you want to get a first hand look before purchasing, that's where you'll find them. Bare in mind, there is some occasional variance from store to store as to what products they stock, but they SHOULD have this set in stock. ok, that's it. g'day!
Great Product June 21, 2008 random231 (Conway SC) I was a little apprehensive about ordering this product. But since there were some favorable reviews and I had checked it out on consumer reports, I thought I would go ahead. Actually this is the first set I have bought (previously I would just buy unmatched pieces) that matched, and that I am happy with. I don't mind washing the pans by hand as they work quite well on my ceramic top cookstove. They recommend lowering the heat somewhat and I have found that the food cooks up well on a lower heat, with an even distribution of heat (that I didn't have with my old pans)the handles are quite comfortable, and the pans aren't too heavy for me. I had fx my elbow--so I am concerned about not having pans that are too heavy. I haven't used them in the oven yet so I can't comment on that. I was pleased with the price and the 2 day shipping. I'm glad Amazon had them available and for the price!
Basic Cooking not for Entertaining June 12, 2008 ScooBoo (Wichita, KS usa) My sister and I purchased this product as a gift for our mother. She loves the non-stick surfaces and the ability to store the lids in limited spaces, however I think she was disappointed with the size of the pots and frying pan. Very small compared to her older cookware. Was not anxious to get rid of her old oversized cookware as she often entertains a large family. Is perfect for family of two.
great May 2, 2008 Daria (NY United States) i've owned this set since december 07. generally, i tend to burn things a lot, and let me tell you, this set took a beating during the first couple of months i owned it. i was pleasantly surprised with how it held up. i still use it, and have a feeling i will keep it for a long time. great price for the set too!!
