Heavy duty and great for breakfast February 15, 2008 girl from TN (TN) I am not a huge fan of nonstick cookware, but for pancakes and eggs I make the exception. I bought this griddle to replace an older nonstick single model, and it exceeds my expectations. Very nice weight, well coated, and I especially like the handle design and the pouring corners. Within our household of 6, the large surface allows us all to eat our grilled gruyere sandwiches at the same time ... along with pancakes, eggs, and french toast. Even heating, and easy to clean. A nice addition to anyone who enjoys "griddled" foods.
Great Griddle February 1, 2008 D. Holmes (Fair Oaks, CA USA) This griddle is exactly what I wanted. I make French toast at least once a week, using the round loaves of French bread, sliced, and thay take up quite a bit of room on the cooking surface. A lot of the griddles have a "gutter" around the inside to catch grease when bacon is being cooked. Since I don't fry bacon on this griddle, (I use the microwave if I do bacon) this gutter takes up quite a bit of the flat surface that I wanted for the toast. The flat, nonstick surface makes cleanup very easy. I had been using a 12 inch round Circulon pan to cook the French toast before, but it was difficult and time consuming to clean down in the circular groves of the bottom of the pan. (Since my husband does he cleanup, he is VERY appreciative of this). I like the Circulon skillet for other cooking, but not for frying French toast. I am very pleased with this Calphalon griddle, and would definitely recommend it if you wanted a completely flat, smooth cooking surface, and for easy cleanup.
The best griddle June 4, 2007 J. Schreiber This griddle works great! I put it across my 2 burners on med-low heat and only had to spray the surface one time with my Misto Olive Oil sprayer, also from Amazon. I made a batch of whole wheat pancakes and french toast and they cooked evenly, perfectly and NO sticking!! I did not once have to re-apply any olive oil during my cooking process. This griddle is highly recommended for the serious weekend breakfast cook like I am. It is superb!! Everything I've gotten, which is almost every piece of Calphalon Contemporary Nonstick offered, has met each and every one of my expectations. I'm very pleased!!!!
Great griddle !!!! March 14, 2007 Mimi (Texas) 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
This griddle is a great addition to my cookware. I have used it several times and have not been disappointed. It cooks pancakes evenly and perfectly all the way across my two burners. I noticed that in some of the reviews for various brands of griddles that they were not to be used on glass cooktops. This one works and I am very pleased with my purchase. The only thing I might add is that it does not have trough around the edges to drain the fat. When I cook bacon, it has to sit in the grease until I take it off the griddle. However this is not too much of a problem as I make sure it is well drained before I serve it. It is a little pricey for no more than I use it, but it is a great product and I don't think you could go wrong with this one if you are in the market for a double griddle. Amazon does have the best prices around.
One of the best griddles on the market August 16, 2004 Debbie Lee Wesselmann (the Lehigh Valley, PA) 13 out of 13 found this review helpful
Calphalon has become my favorite brand of cookware. Although I prefer the company's traditional hard-anodized professional line, I bought this nonstick double griddle because Calphalon does not make a fully hard-anodized griddle. The rectangular pan easily covers two burners and is great for making pancakes, grilled sandwiches, eggs - whenever you need a large flat cooking surface. I have a gas range, and I find that the heat does not distribute as evenly as I'd like, though it's adequate for most cooking purposes. Cooks with electric ranges might get better results with their more radiant burner system. The uneven heating is in part due to the pan's design since it spans two burners with obviously a gap between two heat sources. However, you can't beat this useful griddle for cooking of a batch of pancakes or other family meals more quickly than you would with one pan. The nonstick surface has proven to be durable, and the pan itself is extremely sturdy. If you are looking for a griddle and often have to juggle two pans to accommodate one recipe, this product is for you. Make sure you have a large enough storage area for it, though, as you don't want your other metal pans to scratch the non-stick surface. (I store mine on its side in one of my deeper cabinets.) From handle to handle, the pan measures 23"; it is about 11" wide. As griddles go, this is one of the best. Don't settle for a flimsy aluminum pan if you are a serious cook.
