For removing lumps from turkey gravy or seeds from tomato sauce--and all the other imperfections when you want silky-smooth gravies, sauces, and broths--a fine-mesh strainer is essential. This strainer is a first-rate example of a tool all serious cooks keep handy. It's 7 inches in diameter, ideal for most home-kitchen uses. Angled loops opposite the handle hook securely on a pan's edge, permitting spill-free use, and provide a firm base when the strainer is used with a wooden spoon to purée foods. The strainer is 13-1/2 inches long overall, with a rim of highly polished 18/8 stainless steel, and has soft, gray Santoprene bumps on the satin-finish stainless-steel handle for a slip-resistant grip.
