Amazon.com Review Many associate Ginsu knives with the product's kitschy infomercial from the `70s that begins with a karate kick to a watermelon and proceeds with a demo of these knives cutting through just about anything in the house. Like the original product, Ginsu's International Traditions is designed for the home cook who is not attuned to the maintenance required of a more high-end knife. However, this line is an improvement on the original, offering the weight, balance, and style of a commercial-quality knife, while meeting current design trends and performance expectations. This 14-piece set stocks a kitchen with most cutlery needs, and packs all knives in a contemporary black hardwood storage block. The set includes: an 8-inch chef's knife, an 8-inch slicer, an 8-inch bread knife, a 5-inch boning knife, a 4-1/2-inch utility knife, a 3-1/2-inch paring knife, and six 4-1/2-inch steak knives, plus a pair of shears. Ginsu blades are constructed from stainless steel and feature a two-dimensional serrated edge that is symmetrically cut on either side for more accurate slicing and for either right- or left-handed use. Edges are still as low-maintenance as ever and never require sharpening. The blades have full tangs that extend through lightweight bakelite handles and are triple-riveted for strength. Ginsu covers these International Traditions knives under a limited, lifetime warranty and recommends manual cleaning with hot, soapy water to keep them in top shape. --Cristina Vaamonde What's in the Box 3-1/2-inch paring knife, 4-1/2-inch utility knife, 5-inch boning knife, 8-inch bread knife, 8-inch slicer, 8-inch chef's knife, six 4-1/2-inch steak knives, shears, hardwood block

Excellent value, sharp! but not rust-free. July 30, 2008 Scope (Decatur, Georgia United States) Very sharp, but not spot- and rust-free, even though they state they are stainless. We have had them for three weeks now, and they look a bit spotty. My hubby wanted to send them back (doesn't like spots), but I like the sharp edges, and I don't care about the spots. Ginsu knives are much sharper than Farberware! Woo-hoo!
Great knives for any price! July 16, 2008 Keith Roberts (Bay Area, CA) I bought ours 3 years ago and they are still sharpe. I wouldn't know how they work on meat since we are vegetarians, but they cut fruit and vegies with ease. I have since bought 2 other sets for family members as gifts because all they loved them when at our house. If you don't like the block, then buy another or store them in a drawer. Very Happy for 3 years running!
Super Knifes June 25, 2008 Richoo7 (Punta Gorda Fla.) These are fantastic knifes for the money. You would have to spend a lot more for knifes of this quality. they are extremly sharp, and have a good solid feel to them. They would complement any countertop.
Great Knifes at Cheap Price, High Quality June 18, 2008 Mark K (Costa Mesa, CA) At first I was hesitant to buy this due to the low price but after reading the reviews i was convinced. We have had this for the past 6 months and they work perfect. they are very sharp and might even cut your finger if you are not careful. they cut like butter through every food we throw at it. vegetables cut paper thin, scissors cut through chicken bones with ease. dont recommend washing in dishwaher as the handles may discolor. i always hand wash them and they turn our perfect. i highly recommend this as it works just as good as any italian or french european type of knife. i always read many reviews prior to buying and this product has not let me down yet so i give it my seal of approval.
Super Sharp Kitchen Knife Set! June 2, 2008 G. Martin (Glendale, Ca.) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Just a few things to add here. I bought these with some pots and pans {T-Fal} so I received the free shipping rate and it still got here in 5 days!! This is a Super Sharp Set of Blades! Because they are rather thin they cut thru anything all the easier! I bought a set with much thicker blades about 2 years ago and out of the box they were "as dull as dish water!!" {not the case with these puppies!} I even spent extra $$ to have them sharpened and they were still a BIG Disappointment! So finally when I saw these, the Ginsu name and the great little price, I went for it and I'm very pleased! PS. one does not need a big heavy steak knife to cut ones New Yorker... only a sharp knife!
