disappointed in quality August 25, 2008 C. Krieg I bought a set after reading a review that named them as good as All Clad. I have 2 All Clad pieces but they are pricey so I decided to get Gourmet Standard for the set I needed to complete my cookware needs. Frying pans are good although the handles do heat up more than the All Clad...well what are pot holder for anyway..but when I boiled some noodles in the sauce pot I had pits that were more than superficial. I sent the pot back and Gourmet Standard was great about replacement but the new pot pitted just as fast. I tried working with the site I bought them through Chef Depot...but got nowhere..did get a scolding about "testing" my new pot..didn't understand why I shouldn't test a pot by boiling water but they likened it to kicking the fender on a new car and then trying to get a warrenty claim . Gourmet Standard would replace this pot I am sure but why bother, it seems to be a failure of the manufacturing process....Warning if you buy them don't do so from Chef Depot.
Great Pans! January 30, 2008 J. Hansberry Bought these after searching and searching for pans for my new induction cooktop. Just couldn't drop the money needed for All-Clad and then I read the review in Cook's Illustrated about this brand....sold me....and I love them!! They are gorgeous and the quality is outstanding...I don't buy "cheap" cookware....I always research and buy quality and these do not disappoint!!
Love, love, love them! November 24, 2007 Lulu (Seattle) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I love this cookware! I'm a pretty serious cook and have become very choosey about the equipment I bring into my kitchen and I adore these pots and pans. I had heard them compared to All Clad (which is out of my price range) so after much research I snapped up these when I found a 12 piece set at Costco business for just $[...]. I've been cooking with them for at least 6 months now and they are fabulous! The handles stay cool and the two times I've actually burned something in them (my fault for having the heat too high and stepping away from the stove), a little "Bar Keeper's Friend" cleanser cleaned the stuck on mess right up! Buy these pans, as you won't be sorry!
It works gooder September 21, 2007 John M. Chatham These tri-ply pots and pans heat up faster, in a more even manner than any pot/pan I have ever used. America's Test Kitchen (PBS, check local listing) brought "Gourmet Standard" pans to my attention when they said that a saute pan was as good as the "All-Clad" one, as less than 1/2 the price. I ordered a set, tried them, and will order at least 1 more 9 piece set for "the cabin". Verily an excellent product!
High quality on par with ALL Clad and good for induction stove March 17, 2007 S. Wong (San Francisco, CA) 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
After much research and looking at different triply/clad cookware from Henckels, Kitchenaid, Calphalon, and ALL Clad, I decided on Gourmet Standard. I am very glad I did. The cookware is beautiful and the stainless steel and aluminum is thicker than all the other name brands mentioned above except for ALL Clad, which I think is a bit thicker. Compared to All Clad, I feel it is a better value in terms of costs and the size of the pans you get. Cook's Illustrated stated that this cooked just like All Clad. So Save yourself some money and go with Gourmet Standard. It's also good for induction stoves.
