Editorial Reviews:

Amazon.com Review
This Cuisinart coffeemaker is ideal for the coffee drinker who wants the flavor of café coffee at home. It all starts with the specialized Coffee Bar flavor system, which revolves around a dial on the top of the machine that allows you to set the number of cups to brew. The coffeemaker automatically regulates the right amount of water through the grounds. Just like that--a better cup of java.

The rest of the machine is also topnotch, and is focused on providing better coffee in a user-friendly format. The features include a sturdy 10-cup carafe (with a specialized lid to keep oxygen out during brewing, thus preserving the flavor), a pause feature--which makes it possible to remove the carafe midbrew to pour a cup--a water window that shows how much water needs to be poured in for different amounts of coffee, and an easy-to-read instruction manual to get everything started. The bottom line: all these features add up to good coffee. This coffeemaker measures 13-1/4 by 9-3/4 by 8 inches (height by width by depth). --A.J. Rathbun

Editor's note: This is a reconditioned small appliance. Reconditioned generally means that the appliance has been returned to the manufacturer, which brings it back to like-new condition. Some appliances may contain cosmetic blemishes.

ok.. this is one of the few boxes from amazon.com that came in an open damaged looking way.... but the product survived it. first pot of coffee was great! it's nice to have a clean coffee brewer.. it might be luck of the draw on re-manufactured equipment.. for Less then $10. it was worth a shot.. i am pleased to of found this at amazon.

4 out of 5 stars so far, so good   March 14, 2008

Other than a very tight swinging coffee basket (which may not prove to be a bad thing), it's great... It makes great coffee. Especially useful is the 1-4 cup setting.

the 1st one i ordered had a broken piece- the 2nd pot that was sent out was defective - the white rim on the pot held water from the dishwasher- when it heated up making the coffee- the water was released all over the heating element & the counter - i called conair & they stood behind it & are currently sending out a new glass pot

2 out of 5 stars another reason to be wary of refurbished   January 20, 2008

I bought one of these refurbished models (for around $15, I think) and it worked perfectly for about four months, then quit entirely. Lights came on, but there was no more heating of water and no heat to baseplate. Unfortunately, the warranty was for only three months (I wonder how they make these refurbished products to last only 90-plus days?)
Otherwise, it was OK -- switches for small or large batches of coffee (heats the water hotter for smaller batches), some kind of "adjustment" knob on top for exact cup size (which I don't think did anything) and the usual carafe that sometimes dripped and sometimes didn't, depending upon its mood.
I'd been under the impression that Kitchen Aid put out fairly high quality products, but I guess that's no longer the case (along with many other formerly great brands like H-P, Sony, etc.)
So I've replaced the coffee maker with a $10 job from Target that looks very similar and comes with NO warranty, which means it probably will last forever ...
