With a fan circulating steam, this electric appliance prepares a meal in about two-thirds the time an ordinary steamer would require. The steamer is large enough for a family, with a 6-quart steaming tray, a shallower tray that sits atop the main tray, and a bowl that holds 5 cups of cooked rice. Oval to accommodate a fish or chicken and long vegetables like asparagus, the steamer is simple to operate. Fill the detachable water reservoir (it has a printed guide showing various foods' steaming times), place food in the trays or rice bowl, insert the fan into the lid, and set the timer, which will shut off the steamer when time's up and send out an audible signal. The parts are all durable plastic, and most are dishwasher-safe. The steamer measures 12 inches wide and stands 10 inches high.
