5 out of 5 stars Great little oven   August 8, 2008

I love my little BRK-300. Sure it is small, but with only two of us it is perfect. It performs just as well as my full size oven. This little gem bakes up a perfect, crispy thin crust pizza, something I was never able to accomplish with my full size oven. I love the convecton feature and it roasts chicken like nobodys business. I can actually bake boneless, skinless chicken breasts in it without them drying up. I also love the fact that I don't have to heat up my whole kitchen with my full-size oven during the hot Summer months.

The only gripes that I have with it are as follows: 1) The oven is just too small to cook a decent sized chicken using the rotisserie function. Chickens these days are enormous- even fryers. 2) After a few months my unit started beeping continually soon after turning it on. I contacted Cuisinart customer service and they promptly sent out a brand new oven to me. No problem. 3) The print around one of the dials on my first oven started rubbing off. It was hard to see which setting I was using, luckily I had the positions memorized. Once again, this problem was solved when Cuisinart sent me a new oven. 4) It does take a while to make toast in, but I didn't buy it for that purpose, so it's all good.

Overall, I love it and would definitely reccommend.

2 out of 5 stars "Deluxe Countertop Oven" it is not...   July 11, 2008

quoted from Cuisinart's website description of this toaster oven. I had it for only 2 days so far, so the review cannot be complete, but... firstly: apperance, it's stainless steel ok, but unfortunately, it's made of the thinnest stamped material possible, from a close up it just looks cheap. Grayish plastic is used to fill in the places between body and handles and knobs. Speaking of handles, they protrude for about an inch and a half from each side, making it take much more space on a counter top than necessary, and they're not removable. But it needs handles, as the sides and top get EXTREMLY hot when doing anything, top gets to over 220F. Rotisserie mechanism is cheap, after 2 uses it must have already broke a tooth on the wheel or whatever turning mechanism it employs, as it stands still for a quarter of a turn, only to suddenly drop for a whole quarter, half a turn later. No timer, no notification when set temperature is reached... other than that it's great: it makes good toasts but so does $30 toaster.

When our 50 year old built-in GE wall oven finally couldn't do the job, we knew that replacing it would mean that we'd have to totally remodel our 1950's kitchen. It would be a huge job since the ceiling height is only 7' in the kitchen and we would of course want to raise the height, along with replacing everything else in the remodel. Meanwhile, I had an electrician disconnect the old oven and remove it and install a new electric box in the opening. I told my husband that I thought we might be able to get by with just a toaster oven for awhile and he was skeptical. But I did some research on-line, after not finding anything suitable in the stores. I knew I didn't want to replace an oven with a cheap, small toaster oven that would possibly not only be a fire hazard, but not capable of handling dinner preparation on a nightly basis for 2 people. We have had the BRK-300 for almost 2 months now, and i finally wanted to post how pleased we are. I told our family not to expect us to host Thanksgiving, but I'm very pleased with the performance of this multi-functional unit. Since it is not huge, expect shorter cooking times and lower temperatures. We like to use the convection setting for reheating instead of the microwave.

I am very pleased with the accuracy of temperature and performance of this product. My husband and I are retired and I enjoy the convenience of being able to bake something for us without having to use my large oven. With it sitting on my countertop it is very easy to access. Other counter-top ovens I have purchased were not as accurate and my baked items never turned out as well. The rotisserie is a little small, but performs well. Pizza turns out great with the brick oven feature, but would not hold a large pizza.

My husband and I are full-time RVers and love this oven. Our new RV has NO oven, only a convection/microwave and we wanted to make crusty pizza and homemade hard crusted bread. We also wanted to be able to cook at high temperatures without heating up our RV. We now do this outside of our RV and the results are wonderful. Thanks for creating a small, stone oven!
