Filling a void March 4, 2010 Fornancy (Virginia) This turned out to be so handy. For quick nite time snacks or a impromtu party - great!
Great product for one or two people February 28, 2010 Nancey R. Jones (-N) I have had this product for a couple of months now, and I have been using it on a very regular basis. First let me say that this size deep fryer is ideal for one or two people, which is why we bought it. If you're frying more than a serving or two of anything or if you're feeding a large crowd or family, it will take several batches and extra time in between for the oil to heat up again: it is NOT made for really heavy use. Definitely keep that in mind before purchasing.
There are only good things to say about this product. It is well-designed and constructed, the non-stick coating on the inside and stainless steel outside make it REALLY simple to clean. It has a nice little pour spout to drain out the oil, then I just set it right in the sink and rinse it out with soap and water (don't submerge it!). The lid comes off so you can clean it, and all of the parts (including the fryer basket) are dishwasher safe. When you're not using it, it's tiny enough to sit on your counter without taking up a lot of space, and it looks nice as a counter top appliance. This way you can just leave the oil in it all the time.
Another thing I love about it is the magnetic cord. It is very easy to unplug, if you try and move the machine while it's plugged in or even touch the cord at all, it's bound to just fall right out. This is a really great safety feature, because if you ever have an accident the electrical connection is closed immediately. I've found that you need to place it where you want it, plug it in, and then don't try to move it while you're cooking. I like that the cord is detachable because I can store it by itself and just leave the fryer on the counter without the clutter of the cord.
I have not had any trouble with this product so far, even with pretty frequent use. The temperature always stays constant, and it heats up fairly quickly because it uses such a small amount of oil. I love the filter in the lid (also washable) because you can just keep the lid closed and that "fried food" smell doesn't fill up the house while you're cooking. Overall, I can recommend this product with 100% confidence.
Compact Fyer February 10, 2010 Peter G. Elston 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Being only two of us, we were looking for a deep fryer which would fit our lifestyle. We found this unit, the Cuisinart, on searching Amazon and are very pleased with the choice. It is compact and just the size for one or two people. It is sturdy and the controls are simple. It has a safety cord attached which is connected by magnet. If it is accidentally pulled it parts quickly, thereby preventing a hot oil spill. It is great for French Fries and the like. We recommend it 100%.
useless temp dial January 10, 2010 Sharon Flaherty (oakland, ca USA)
so, i wanted something small, that didn't use an enormous amount of oil. i like cuisinart products and was delighted to discover this one. so, i brought it home and of course first up was a batch of french fries. so, first instruction was to cook the fries at 300* for x number of minutes. well the dial does not have degree settings on the dial, it only has dots. and a 375* marking. so, how are you to know when the oil is 300*? you need a deep fry thermometer to measure the temperature. second instruction is to then cook fries at 375* for x number of minutes. so gaging by the candy thermo, the oil never got above 365*. fries were not great! returned the unit.
Great Fryer! December 19, 2009 Jane Dough (Ohio) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I think this is a great little fryer, but obviously not the best one for extremely frequent use. My husband and I don't fry things that often, but maybe appetizers once in a while for ourselves or company. If you want something small to fry food for 2 every once in a while, this is your best bet. People complain that they stop working after heavy use, but obviously this is the cheapest fryer you can get, and tiny. So you get what you pay for. It works, (very well I might add) but not to feed a family of 6 every night.
